Thats fantastic! He gets to keep playing!

But head-shots are serious business. We cant have people hitting players blind-side and then just punching defenseless players in the head while they lie helpless on the ice.

Message sent!

It punishes the Oilers more to have him playing than suspended...

Fair enough!

I see some of the Edmonton media thinks the fine is a joke.......I do wonder if someone did the exact same thing to McDavid if they would be cool with just a penalty. I'm guessing not.

Lucic is lucky the kid didn't get hurt. That was Stalking 101 and just a ridiculous play all around.

The approach by the DOPS is so bass ackwards - They should assess the offending player's action and deem if it is worthy of a suspension and then tack on additional discipline if the player is injured as a result of the action. Instead, it's pretty clear that they look to see if the player was injured and if he does escape injury, no suspension is handed down. Just my two cents.

Draglikepull @draglikepull

"Impressed that the league would come down so hard on the Edmonton Oilers by refusing to make Lucic sit out for a few games."

I don't know how to read that other than as a "#### you Edmonton". No player safety, no nothing.

It was worthy of supplemental discipline, but no intent to (seriously) injure and just a joke overall, really. I'm OK with the slap on the wrist.

This is actually great news for any team that plays the oilers from now on. Apparently any team could go out of their way to chase McDavid down, hit him when he’s not near the puck and is vulnerable to a dirty hit, and then proceed to sit on him and hit him in the head when he’s down on the ice defenceless. All while only getting a $10,000 fine. GM’s could dress a goon and pay him an extra $100,000 at the start of the season telling him to do that to McDavid every game that we play him. That would cover the fines. If he does it enough to hurt McDavid and gets a bigger suspension, the GM can just work in a bonus somewhere into his contract.

People saying it was not that bad have to realize the difference between what lucic did and what bertuzzi did was that bertuzzi injured the guy. That could have happened in this instance too. It’s sad to say but there would be a completely different response to this by the league and the media if this was done to McDavid.

Lame. They should make it so Joseph gets the $10k.

The way Oiler fans were crying about Joseph’s boarding is the same kind of uncalled hit McJesus laid on Oduya

Imagine the outcry if the Stars sent their 230lbs goon after McDavid

“Physically six pounds lighter… The speed and agility testing we have four tests – I would probably say from last year to this year between 45 and 60 percent improvement. Significant improvement. You know those pro agility tests, those shuttle runs – significant improvement. You can see it on the ice.”
So, 45-60% improvement in speed and agility. So lets say 50% just to make it an easy number.

Would that mean that a person who ran the 40 in 6 seconds who had a 50% improvement would now run the 40 in 3 seconds?

That is ridiculous. A 10% improvement is impressive. 50% is ridiculous.

Yeah, those tests make very little difference in terms of what actually happens on the ice. I know a lot of players that are very fast on those type of tests because that's what they prepare for in the offseason, then they get on the field on ice in a game and they have the same old dead legs or dead brain.

No matter what Lucic and the Oilers think, you can't beat father time, or uncle bulk. Lucic is slow on the ice because he just is.

10k fine and Oilers being forced to keep him in the lineup is good for me.

Lucic is now a $5,990,000 man
