No. Greenpois0n untethered came out the other day. Mac only at this point. They released it because that specific exploit no longer works on 4.3.

To unlock you need to jailbreak. Not only that, the only unlock right now is to use the iPad's baseband which may or may not kill your GPS functionality.

These apps are the REASON I jailbreak:

BiteSMS- once you use it, standard messaging will look like crap. Free w/ ads or 7.99 (i think?) lifetime sub
LockInfo- everything on the lockscreen- emails, sms, notifications. no need to unlock phone to check if you have an email
My3G- facetime over 3g, etc.
FolderEnhancer-unlimited apps in a folder, looks and works great

If you are still on 3.0 Element lock screen for cydget it is pretty much a free version of lockinfo good replacement if you are to cheap to buy it

Depends, are you unlocked / trying to keep an unlock / unlock in the future?

If not, then you just update to the newest version through iTunes, and jailbreak it again.

If so, then I don't know for sure, though I assume it'll involve doing some gymnastics to preserve the baseband or something.

Much better than the tethered redsn0w JB I was using. Because it is untethered I used Greenpois0n to JB my iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G, and iPad. Worked flawlessly on all 3 devices.

the unlock for 3GS 4.2 sucks...it involves using the iPad baseband which is irreversible, and can kill gps....

when ios 4.3 comes out, a new one will probably be made that wont suck

100% agreed. Stay away from this unlock at all costs. Like silentsim mentioned, it is irreversible. No going back to the original baseband OR stock firmware. You will permanently void any warranty you may have left. This unlock is so hacked together I wouldn't be surprised if it screws up any future updates as well.

What about greenpoison unlocking 3GS 4.1? Do you still have to use the iPad baseband?

I see it looks like on a 3G that I would be stuck with the Ipad BB. It's not a big deal because this is for a friend and he can live without GPS. (I wouldn't do it myself but he is impatient for a proper unlock).

It looks like Limera1n will change the BB and unlock/jailbreak the phone but it is a tethered JB. How do I unlock the 3GS after JBing with Greenpoison?
