its baseball, far more of a market for it than hockey.

EA Did this similar thing with Fifa 10 called Live Season. It cost's them 4 british ponds or 400 microsoft points to be able to do this (that is for one league)

I don't see myself caring enough about weekly updates, or even injuries (because why would we want say, Crosby to not be able to be used due to injury) to even consider using actual money for updates. And soccer and baseball have more following than hockey for them to even bother with weekly roster updates.

edit : you can also see priorities on where the spend more time for the platforms for each game:

Fifa: ps3, xbox360, wii, psp, ds, ps2, pc, mobile
Madden: xbox 360, wii, ps3, ps2, psp
NHL: xbox 360, ps3

Seriously, they need to take pauses and replays OUT of online sessions. It totally kills the game when someone pauses the game 6-7 times in 1 game. Not to mention, EVERY replay is always shown because is always someone is watching it and never hits A.

Enough of the "presentation", make the game smooth, and having 90 replays a game with 9 pauses is effing ridiculous.

Can't you only pause twice per online session? I wish they had a 'mutual pause' option that wasn't limited to the 30 second timer. As far as replays are concerned, I'd love to see replays of goals and big hits/injuries. Cut out everything else. Or at least have the option of cutting it out.

It is 4, per team. (OTP), then there is the replays after periods then there is the 30 second break in between periods, then there is 3 stars, then the after game replays. Then there is the opening sequence, seriously the replays and pauses are longer than the actual gameplay is.

Totally kills all momentum in the game.

boo hoo, i feel so bad for you.. it's like your life is over, like this is the most important thing in the world to you.

ooh and the momentum will change ooh so much over 10 seconds.... except it doesnt

most of the time 1 player does all 4 time outs before the game starts to avoid it during play.

simple solution: don't play online if you don't like it

The worst are the between play replays. If the other guy doesn't hit A both players have to sit there for 20 seconds between plays. If there are frequent stoppages it gets tedious. Even if both players hit A it still takes too long. There should be an option to turn on/off replays both at the between plays and at the end of the period.

Wow, and I thought I was immature.

You have obviously never played online before.

When did I say my life revolves around NHL 10. Maybe you shouldn't judge others on yourself. I want EA to improve a game, I guess that makes me a complete loser.

4 in total, 2 per team you mean?

I completely agree with the replays and intros. Neat the first few times a guy plays, tedious thereafter. Especially the between period 'highlights'.

However, I hope the pauses remain. Once a guy finishes off a 24 while playing those 30 second bathroom breaks become precious.

No, in OTP there are 4 pauses for each team.

Getting rid of all pausing and replays is a terrible suggestion. Have you honestly never had to run to the bathroom, answer the phone (if it isn't nearby), run upstairs/downstairs, or any other of the million different things that could possibly interrupt you during a game?

It would be nice if you could make replays optional offline. Such a waste of time.

If you're not ready to play, wait until you're ready. I have over 400 games played with my online BAP player and have NEVER needed to pause.

At the very least, they should have "no pause" rooms similar to fast tables in online poker. These rooms would be full of people who are ready to play through.

I'm sick of waiting for people to wipe their bums and blow their noses.

Haha. Some people only pause it because they know it pisses everyone off.

Personally, I'd rather someone pause the game for 30 seconds, then be playing in one of these "no pause" rooms and have to leave their guy do nothing for 30 seconds. This will obviously happen to the goalie, and then someone will score, and both teams will quit. KEEP THE REPLAYS/PAUSES.

Believe it or not, not everyone can devote a half hour locked in a room to play online with no distractions.

Two new, brief clips. Use controlled celebrations and another hit.

Looks like fun!
