Now I really want to buy a new computer! Wait until D3...hopefully I can hold out.
Will my laptop run it at the moment? 2 GB ram, Duo Core 2 processor 7200 (2.0Ghz), but the video card is a ATi 1400x I believe.

Got mine tonight at a Game Stop. Was pretty cool. I didn't even pre-order, but they still offered me a Collector's edition. I couldn't see the value in paying $40 for a comic book and a behind-the-scenes DVD though. Like everyone else on the planet, I already own the Starcraft + Broodwars stuff.
Anyhoo. Installed and played through the first couple missions. I'm afraid I won't be getting much homework done tomorrow...

Heh, I've been clicking like mad on every new unit I get - darn habit from the original warcraft games.
Personally, I don't mind the CE stuff at all - not half bad.

Well I'm friggin tired today, stayed up until 3 playing. What a sweet game, I played multiplayer and skipped the campaign. I need to learn the tech tree, I lost to a Protoss that teched right to ships and I built hydras and lings. Spent a good portion of the time building units and stuff I didnt know how to use or just plain sucked in my match up.

You also get a 15 GB USB Key - but again its still not worth it.

What - really - that blows. I thought it included the original game as well as extra storage space. That really is a jip.

What a relief. Just got back from BestBuy Deerfoot Meadows with my Collector's Edition. They had quite a few actually. I can't guarantee they would have any left now though as there was a large line-up to get them.

Does it play fine on the mac? I remember reading that some steam games ran slower on the macs, but I assume blizzard developed the game with both mac and pc in mind, so it should be optimized.

For those that didn't get it yet it's $53.99 at Dell with free shipping. Go to Futureshop or Best Buy and they should price match it. They might complain about shipping but tell them it's free. Sometimes they don't do the 10% difference but it's only 60 cents so probably nothing to make a big deal about.

As for the Mac question...I played the beta on my Mac at 1920x1080. I had to turn shadows and a few other things down and it still looked good and ran great.

I'm sure you probably know someone who has it. Borrow it from a friend or *ahem* find a copy of the single player and try it offline. I don't think that 1400x is up to snuff unfortunately.

Every copy of StarCraft 2 comes with two 10-day guest passes. Get one of those and see if it works out on your machine.

Avoid Blizz's digital distribution like the plague.
I tried doing it and it kept giving me error messages when I put my credit card information in. I got frustrated and decided it'd just be quicker to run over to EB Games. I got a hard copy (which I opened) and now I come home to see a copy of the game queued in my Battle.net account.
Hopefully I don't end up with 3 copies of the game on my account or something ridiculous.

Actually, their digital distribution model is quite nice. That hard copy you just bought? Plug the product key into your online Battle.Net account, and then you can download full installs of the product (Mac or PC) forever. It's quite nice for people who constantly lose their disks. I have all of their games activated on my account. I like being able to download and install a legal copy of D2 on a whim and go mess around for free on B.Net. Ditto for StarCraft, Warcraft 3, etc etc.
Sucks that they have issues like that today. Their servers are getting hammered right now though, of course.

It's a pretty reasonable assumption to make that their servers are getting hammered right now, so there are bound to be some issues.
|
Well there's bound to be issues, but it's ridiculous to have an order go through after it said there were errors. Now I have two copies of the game because their system basically lied to me.
And now that I have a DD copy, it says it's "queued" and isn't even active yet. I can't log-in to Battle.net or play the game. This seems to be a pretty common problem looking on Neogaf and Blizz's forums.
I can understand issues, but it's pretty f'n ridiculous that I've paid for the game and I can't even play it.
