Nah its the fact I'm in Europe, Iceland specifically. Our release date is this Friday, so steam holds me back until then.
I was hoping since I used a Canadian billing address/CC that they would consider me North American region, but alas no luck.

I believe it's because he lives in Europe and he can't play until Friday.
@Thor: Thoughts and Prayers go out to you and your free time.

I will not give up, maybe there is a way with anonymous proxies to get the game working, after all technically I'm still in Calgary

I feel their pain .... LOL. That might be the best game trailer I have seen.
I've played the game for only a few minutes ... the interface will take some time to get used to coming from hundreds of hours of Civ4.
It will take a few days of playing before I can say whether I like Civ5 better than Civ4 or not. But at first glance, it does seem like they stayed true to what makes Civ a Civ game.

I got home before my wife for a change yesterday and when I checked the messages on the machine, EB had a message on there saying that her copy of Civilization would be ready to pick-up today.

Well so far so good, its fun, quite early into the game. Music isn't really noticeable yet, maybe as I advance that steps it up a notch, certainly IV had great music.
I'm not quite sure what to think yet about the neutral cities, so far they surround my territory and usually ask for help with barbarians or to join them in war against another neutral city. You can walk on their territory but it reduces your influence with them, you get no warning if before you walk into a square of theirs so keep that in mind.
Time for some dinner and then back to my mad hAxZoRs game.

Great success! My trainer is sick today so I get to play a good 3 hours earlier.
Thoughts and prayers to my trainer.

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or is he just born with a heart full of neutrality?

Liking it so far, though keeping a friendship up with a city-state doesn't seem worth it so far.

Yeah, I pretty much just let them go back to neutral after saving their asses. City-States, I mean.

bah why squash when you can have them build units for you??
Anyone else finding that it takes a exceptionally long time to play?? I mean I've been playing 5 hours now and we're only on turn like 170
