Any pitchers left for tomorrow? The yankees might win by 10.
The only thing missing from this game is a ball lost in the roof.

While everyone is cursing the Flames, the Twins won in 12.
Tigers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the 12th but couldn't score.
Twins score with one out in the 12th.

My prediction - Tomorrow night's starting pitcher for the Twins:
Brett Favre.

What an incredible choke job by the Tigers.
It will probably be ignored because they are a nothing team and not the Yanks or Red Sox but to choke away the division in the first place and then to give the deciding game away has to be one of the worst chokes in baseball.
Yanks should win in a cakewalk but sometimes these lucky teams seem to get on a roll and the breaks just go their way.

I don't know about a choke... they were a surprise to even be where they are. Most experts picked them 4th in the division only ahead of KC. They played all year out of their skins in a weak division and in september they just ran out of steam cause that's all their talent would allow. Overall Minnesota is a much more complete team.

That was an amazing ball game. My brother who lives in Minneapolis was at the game and said the nosie inside the Dome was unreal. Couldn't believe the Tigers didn't put a run across in the top of the 12th.
Anyhoo the Twins won 17 of thier last 21 games to force that playoff. Tigers choked down the stretch.

With the lead they had coming down the stretch I don't care what the "experts" predicted they choked.
And to play better than the Twins today and leave the bases loaded after not scoring a run with a guy on third and no outs, I would say it was a choke.
They should have won that game at least 3 times tonight and lost because of their bad play.
Edit: Although tough to blame them for the god awful third strike they gave to Nathan in the 9th(?)

True. Although the Twins left runners on too and had the winning run thrown out at the plate. Both teams are not that good so you'll see mistakes.

That's pretty much the definition of choke, I don't care where they were picked to finish 6 months ago. They had a 3 game lead with 4 to play, and blew it. They had a seemingly insurmountable lead in the division all of september and they choked it away, there's no other word for it than choke.
BTW, I'm not sure where you're getting this 'they played out of their skins' from, this is a team in the top 5 payrolls in baseball. They were supposed to win this division.
Add: I just heard on the radio that no team since 1902 had blown a 3 game lead with 4 to play.

So Moon, can your Cards beat the Dodgers in this round? I think it is a toss up, 5 game series.

Moon being moon.....
It's impossible for a team to ever win a game or series on their own merit. The other team has to choke it away and give it to them. I hope it's the Cardinals who out choke the Dodgers in this series.

Choking would be what the Mets did a few years ago, losing game after game. Tigers played .500 or thereabouts all year, didn't really have any slumps. Twins went on a wild streak at the end winning 80% in September/October.
Effective payroll doesn't always equal actual payroll. When 25 percent (roughly) of that payroll is tied up in guys who didn't even play for the Tigers this season (or barely played) the argument is pretty moot. Sheffield, Bonderman and Willis were about 25 percent of the Tigers payroll this year, give or take. Most thought this year would be a write-off for the Tigers. They did well to get that far.

If the Rockies can just steal one of these games on the road I like them to roll over the Phillys at home.

Moon being moon???
Their are other people who agree with me that it was a choke so obviously it has to be more than that.
Also where are all these other instances where I said the other team didn't win it on their own merit? Just because I point out one or two times that it happens means that I think it is impossible. The term choke exists for a reason and this is one of the times that it is appropriate.
The Twins obviously played well to get in, but that doesn't mean that the Tigers didn't choke away the lead or choke away the game.
If you have a man on third with 0 outs a MLB team should score the run every time no matter who the opponent is. Hitting a ball to the outfield shouldn't be hard for two major leaguers to do.
Having the bases loaded and not scoring as well is something that needs to be done in that situation.
