I signed Bork! first, changed my mind put up Cammy, then thought in the spirit of the draft I should take my 1st selection and went back to Bork!

id be hard pressed to argue that as well, but they do each have more career regular season games individually then Mike Commodore and Ville Nieminen combined

nostalgia goes a long ways

Not really "all-time" Flames I suppose, but I would argue there's a little more latitude with the supplemental draft pick/signings -- it's more about picking the guys you like and/or would want on your team, not necessarily the best or longest serving...

P.S. If you haven't made your maximum 3 supplemental picks, I'll leave it open until the weekend... thanks

Team Hangin' at the Dome wishes to select as our 3rd supplemental pick, a real character addition to our team, the Center of Attention,
Harvey the Hound!

Quote:
Introduced in 1983, Harvey was the first mascot in the NHL.[1] Harvey is described by the Flames as being 6'6" and 200lbs. He was acquired as the Flames "first pound draft pick" in 1983.

First acted by Glenn Street, Harvey made his debut in 1983 serving as the mascot of the Flames and later as a second mascot for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.[1] He was later dropped by the Stampeders in favour of their original mascot, Ralph the Dog, however his popularity with the Flames was such that many teams contacted Street about making mascots for their own teams.[2]
His first game, February 16, 1984 was a Flames rout over the Pittsburgh Penguins, 10 – 3 at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Both Lanny McDonald and Doug Risebrough scored hat tricks and ever since Harvey has been a fixture with the Flames. Harvey has remained a mainstay at Flames games, and at many events throughout Calgary and southern Alberta ever since.

Harvey gained widespread publicity on January 20, 2003, following an incident with the Edmonton Oilers head coach, Craig MacTavish. With the Flames leading 4–0, Harvey was taunting the Oilers behind their bench. The frustrated coach reached up and ripped Harvey's signature red tongue out of his mouth, tossing it into the crowd. The incident seemed to spark the Oilers, who scored three goals shortly after, though the Flames held on to win 4–3.[3] The incident made headlines throughout North America, and led to many jokes, including having many other NHL team mascots arrive at the 2003 All-Star Game with their tongues hanging out.[4]

For their supplemental picks, Channels 2&7 Loves You selects, Chuck Kobasew and Jiri Hrdina.

Chuck Kobasew was a first round pick for the Calgary Flames who played 4 seasons. Jiri Hrdina was selected for obvious influential and adoration purposes.

Hey! No hating on the Villain!!! LOL - I admitted freely that he wasn't chosen to really bring more than the grin and the Finnglish to the team!

If Harvey can go... I'm taking...

While it could be argued that the blueprint was there before he got there, he's the only coach to bring the Cup home to Calgary.

Games - 240
Wins - 134
Losses - 63
Ties - 33

Are we doing anything with this draft? It abruptly ended and it's making me sad.

Whoops -- sorry peeps. I haven't been online much this week...

Next step is voting a winner. I propose posting a thread asking people to vote on the best team. I think if I have a poll with the 10 teams, but also make it a general discussion about who should be on an all-time Flames team (to coincide with all the talk about Montreal's all-time team), that it would be okay on the main Flames board. Any thoughts? Would anyone prefer a "playoff bracket" style format instead to pick a winner?

Playoff style bracket would be very interesting.

Hmmm... not sure. I was originally thinking we would crown an "official" winner by impartial voting, and then I would declare an "unofficial" winner of a playoff bracket by inputting the rosters into a randomizing thingy with variables such as games played, points, uniform number, and skate size, and then running it ten thousand times to determine the winner of each game. I would also add game summaries to make it a little more interesting.

If anyone else has any thoughts, ideas or suggestions, fire away!

Slim picking now. I'll make my last 2 picks.

First is EDDIE BEERS!

Scored 94 goals for the Flames including 36 in one season!

--

Second is Jason Wiemer

No good reason, can't think of anyone else!
