I've just discovered two incredibly awesome apps. Both are free.
SnapTell
Take a picture of the cover of a book, and it will find you the amazon listing with review and buy links, and the option to search for it in google. This is kind of a neat thing that may or may not be useful in everyday life (kinda the same way Shazam is neat but not really useful).
AroundMe
Gives you a super-quick list of places around you, sorted and categorized (banks, hotels, parking, etc etc). Very fast, and very nice. Even clicks through to Maps for routing information. This is one everyone should have.

you take that back. Shazam is all kinds of useful!
Have you tried Locly? It sounds like AroundMe is similar to it. Does anybody know if one is better than the other?

I find shazam very useful. My son makes CDs for my birthday, Christmas and Father's Day of my favourite songs. Rather than writing down the artist, etc., I now keep these on my iPhone so when he's ready to produce a CD for me, he can go there and find songs that I'd like.

Another temporarily free game which I'm not sure has been mentioned in the thread is "Space Monkey". It's a fairly simple game but it's fun to play. I think it is regularly $9.99.

Is Aqua Forest totally chunky on anyone else's phone.. like I can hardly get anything on the screen and the frame rate drops to 1 per second.
A new one I just tried that is AWESOME is Galcon!

Lux Touch is a nice time wasting, Risk-esque game that is free.

Is there a good website that reviews iPhone apps?
Most of the ones I've seen are pretty spotty.

Well... I've decided to jailbreak my phone again... to take advantage of my new favourite app:
PDANet! (better than NetShare imo!)
It installs a wireless router onto your phone, which means all you have to do is create an adhoc network on your laptop, then join it with your iPhone... then fire up PDANet and voila! You have a tethered iPhone and a new way to try to use up the 6GB data you get every month (if you have the 6GB plan)!
Btw... I was suprised at how fast 3G internet is on my macbook. It's actually useful, not just gimmicky like I thought it was going to be.
Edit: Whoops, sorry Reg. I haven't checked this thread in a few days... anyway, I use CNet's Approll and a few other places like Tuaw.com, App Craver and iPhone App Reviews.

I used PDANet last weekend traveling across the country. It's absolutely awesome, and let's us take advantage of that 6gb data plan we're paying for. I had forgotten to download a document before I left that i had planned to read on the plane. Sitting on the run way waiting to take off I synced my phone with my computer, went to the website and had the 3 mb file in less than a minute. The flight attendant wasn't very happy that I'd pulled out my laptop as the plane was taxiing, but pleading dumb worked well enough.
In conclusion, Jailbreak your phone - right now.

Wow, PDANet is AWESOME. What a shame that such an awesome feature was left out, though I guess I can see why.
Loving the emulators on the iPhone after jailbreaking too. And SSH And the Safari download plugin; that's far useful than I thought it would be.
I played Blades of Steel in the intermission on Tuesday
