Jays are falling behind the pack. Looks like another sweep is in order to get back into the race

Complete game shutout from Burnett.
He was absolutely dominant all night. Best performance by a Jays pitcher this year.
Burnett has a ridiculous 1.20 ERA (and it should be a 0.60 ERA if the Atlanta scorers knew what an error was) in his two starts since coming off the D.L.

Very good sign for the Jays. I saw just the last 3 innings, but his stuff was electric. Pitches dancing with 97 MPH velocity.
They need him to be this good if they want to keep up to the Sox.

this is the kind of game that can get a team on a big roll. Come on Jays! We're still within striking distance and we haven't even had all of our pitchers healthy.

Any word on Chachin recently? I think the Jays have done as much as they can with a rotation that includes Josh Towers.

He's out until at least July.
Towers got sent down again so it'll be interesting to see what the Jays do to patch up that spot in the rotation.

Taubenheim (sp?) is taking his place for the next start, and Pete Walker was activated from the DL.
I heard Chacin was out until August at the earliest.

I heard August for Chacin as well. Didn't get a chance to watch much of the game at all last night, too bad, it sounded like a gem.

J.P. has said Chacin's return will likely be "August", but Gibbons said earlier this week that he's optimistic that it could be in late July. Chacin has been throwing and has felt good, so I suspect he'll be ready in a month.

Yeah I meant to say August - brain cramp there.
While it would be nice to have a healthy rotation you can't complain with the Chacin for Burnett trade-off. Chacin's been poor this year and Burnett looks electric out there.

Ted Lilly pitched great tonight, 6 innings of scoreless ball with 6 K's, and the Jays won 6-1.
Chance for the sweep tomorrow with Halladay on the mound.
I was looking at the schedule, and in the last month of the season, they play Boston and New York 13 times. Could be a great finish.

Their streak won't go much longer. I'd be surprised if it reaches 15. If the Jays can just keep up till September, anything can happen. 5 games out isn't bad.
edit: Jays are also 8 games out of the wildcard, due to Detroit's unexpected run.
To show the quality of teams from the AL to NL, the Jays would have a 1.5 game lead in the NL Wildcard. They would also lead the NL central and NL west, as well as the AL west.
What a ridiculous division and league to be stuck in.

Jays sweep again, 8-4 win over the Nationals. Halladay moves to 10-2, and Overbay continued his hot streak belting his 12th homerun and raising his average above .300
If B.J. Ryan doesn't make the all-star team...something is seriously wrong.
He has been the definition of a star this year.
Halladay, Wells and Ryan should represent the Jays.
Rios, Glaus, Overbay, and Lilly have an outside chance in that order IMO.

Now if only the friggin RedSox would lose a game or two, the Jays could make up some ground.

Jays have gone 7-2 over their last 9 and have fallen behind 2 more games in the Division. Very sad.

It's interleague play that is killing the Jays. Cle(6-9), LAA(5-10),Tex(6-9), Tor(7-8) are the only AL teams with losing records to the NL. And look at some of the records being run up against the sr. circuit:
Boston(14-1)
CWS(12-3)
Detroit(13-2)
Sea(13-2)
TBay(10-5)
I am in favour of interleague play, but it is killing the Jays.
Take out those games and the Jays are tied with Yankees(but Yankees have 2 games in hand) and both are 2 up on Boston(who also has 2 games in hand on the Jays).

A bit of a rough inning for Jansen to start (30+ pitches) but the Jays have rebounded thanks to Troy Glaus and a 3-run homer from Overbay ... a good start for the Jays, and hopefully Jansen will settle down with this lead.
