Yeah, the moment you file it under 'whatever', you never really notice it again

The Flames may not make it to 96, but it seems likely that someone will, and the old rule will be right again.

First off ... fair. We are all different.
But boards on the ice are background images. People standing up in front of me when I'm watching a game are out front distractions.
It's like a guy three seats in going for beer during the play and not waiting for a whistle every 25 seconds for three minutes.

Yeah, as with all our players I'm cheering for him. I still worry about his skating but I suspect that's something that continues to be on the team's to-do list.
One thing I hope he's clueing into is that people aren't asking him to use his size only to hit for the sake of hitting. He needs to realize that when he hits players he takes them out of the play, and that in turn frees up ice for him. That's what happened for his goal, and that's when he's at his best.
Fingers crossed.

One of the fastest skaters on the team.
Most really big players look awkward when they skate, but he is getting where he's going.

I don't doubt his straight line speed. What I've been more concerned about is the agility to remain in the play.
But again, I trust it's all on the to-do list.

Shooter selection for the Avs almost makes you wonder if they secretly want the Flames to bump the Wild or Blues out of the playoffs.

That's how I remained (relatively) sane raising three boys, a good portion of it as a single parent.

Those were their three best shooters in the shootout based off shot percentage.
They were actually trying.

I'm still unconvinced this team will ultimately make the playoffs, but hats off to them. It's been a damn fun season to watch. This is a scrappy team.
Not sure they will, but based on effort alone I'd love to see them earn a spot in the playoffs. They've at least earned a shot. That's more than I could have imagined. I had them pegged solidly for 27th place.

The wave thing is difficult.
My kids having more fun at the game, vs.
The superstitious mystical powers of the wave having an outcome on the game.
Really tough call…..

Seems like something babies would be most entertained by.
I guess some of us regress to that stage when inebriated.

I find the wave enjoyable because it fosters a greater connection with the rest of the crowd.

Even if they don't get in now, might as well make it the 15th overall pick they send the Habs vs the 11th.
Keep stacking the wins and see where the chips fall.
Zero upside to losses at this point.

Besides, the lottery win odds between 11-16 are miniscule no matter what, (3% at 11th vs 0.5% at 16th). Its not like the Flames are at all likely to win the lottery and move up 10 spots, from 11th or 16th.
May as well keep winning. Would be hilarious if this is the year the Flames win the lottery though and then draft 5th or 6th lol

It fosters a connection between my hand and my wife's shoulder as I restrain her from joining in.

If only this were always the case...
I'm more than ready for a system where losing isn't rewarded and winning isn't punished.

Credit to the coach for rewarding whoever’s going with extra ice time, even if it’s 4th liners, even against the big dogs. Did I see Klapka up with Kadri for a few shifts?
Having Frost has helped so much with faceoffs and zone entries. The skill, poise and creativity are obviously there. I think the points will come.
A team that most had counted out before the season had even started has been playing entertaining hockey all year and is playing meaningful games in April. Young guys are making an impact with plenty more on the way. Great culture and work ethic. No matter what happens from here on I see this season as a huge success.

Based on a small sample size. Someone who has a career record of 3 goals in 5 attempts over Mackinnon? Gutsy move.
