I was thinking about similar sentiment when it comes to some celebrities who were born in Canada and maintain ties but can they really be thought of as Canadian. I definitely don't follow celebrities very closely so I don't always know if some of the Canadians actually spend time in Canada. For me it was spurred on by the SNL 50th and how it is frequently brought up that Lorne is Canadian but is he really at this point?
I think it's more to point out that all the good comedians come from Canada, as opposed to saying they are Canadian. We are a like a pulsating hive of funny, waiting to burst forth and hug their dumb faces with comedy.
I'd normally be the first guy to throw Gretzky under the bus. He got caught gambling illegally and somehow managed to pin it on his wife and bizarrely, Rick Tocchet. No excuses for that one, he should have gone to prison for it.
He's at a stage now where I don't think he's capable of defending himself in public. I don't know how privy people are to his untreated alcoholism, but he's at Oilers games all the time absolutely blitzed. This has been going on for years. I doubt the guy lives another five years, as sad as that is to say. He's drinking himself to death.

I don’t care about his politics and have no expectation that he should be captain Canada in his daily life, and all this traitor talk is over the top IMO. But his performance as honorary team captain was a total disgrace. Particularly at a time of heightened patriotism he should never have accepted it based on his friendship with Trump, but since he did he should have at least put on a good show like the American captain did.
He should apologize to the country for that. Himself. On video. His silence speaks volumes.
Seeing that Snoop Dog photo a few pages back reminded me of his statements asking which black performers would actually agree to perform at his inauguration when Trump was first elected in 2016:
“Which one of you jigaboo a--, (N-word) going to be the first to do it. I’m waiting. I’m going to roast the (obscenity) out of one of you, Uncle Tom, a-- (N-word) for doing it. Which one of you (N-word) is going to do it first,” he asked then.
"(Obscenity) Donald Trump, (expletive)." He continued with biting sarcasm, suggesting, "They should suspend your dumb (expletive) for all the goofy (expletive) you do every day. When are you going to get suspended (expletive)? ... (Expletive) you, Donald Trump, and everything you stand for."
He ended his video by saying, “America y’all should be ashamed to call this piece of (expletive) y’all president. He ain’t mine.”
Fast forward to 2025, guess who was there kissing Trump's ass? What a ####head.

If Wayne says half as much as Jesse Marsch did (America, men's national soccer coach), I would give him a pass. It would take so little, and yet he can't seem to muster even that.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

It’s sad to watch him associate with who he is to be honest. I’d also add his son in law is a pga golfer and that group seems to be full Trump too.
Dustin Johnson abandoned the PGA tour sold out to the Saudi's, he also was suspended from the PGA for failing 3 drug tests (cocaine). It should be no surprise he sold out to Trump.
