Pospisil can go away too. His dumb dumb o zone penalty caused that 5th goal.

This is the Flames without Wolf.
Nobody should be surprised.

Razzy just reciprocated the contact that Pionk was initiating.
Meanwhile Millen claimed he gave Comrie a direct shot at first.

No, but you CAN pare down the unforced errors. Dearth gave up two goals tonight from approximately the same kind of shot…the first went high and he made himself small; the second went to his wide side and he overplayed the near side. Both were Shooter vs. Goalie and he picked wrong on both.
A shame because he HAS given us great games…just not recently.

Nothing is blatantly bad but allowing 5 on 23 is at least partially on him too, and I'm not feeling sorry for him.

The Vilardi first one wasn't good - I think he was cheating to the middle. I think the Appleton goal easn't off of him - it was off of the scrum.
But morover, this is a start after sitting for two weeks, on the second night of back to back, with less than 24 hour rest time for the team, against one of the best teams in the league, one which is maybe the most opportunistic goal scoring team there is. They don't tend to overwhelm other teams with chances - they do what they did tonight.
EDIT: Put it this way - switch goalies with Winnipeg tonight and I bet the score's the same.

They played 22 hours earlier and traveled.
No team should be judged under that barometer.
But yes, this is the wolf-less Flames.

He is Ornery tonight.

Yeah,
Hes been put in a lot of tough situations this year. and up to a couple of weeks ago Wolf has been given more of the plum assignments.
Not detracting from Wolf in any way, hes been terrific but its a tough comparison.

b2b, best team in the west, major injures...and Vladar has been bad. There cant be this big a gap between Wolf and the backup...need to give Cooley a shot IMO

What was Darryl Sutter’s line about backup goalies?

There is that big a Gap.
With league average goaltending, we are a lottery team.

Cooley for sure deserves a shot. Vlad has been mid his entire career.

Love that Flames always go down fighting instead of giving up. Hopefully Bahl isn’t out for too long.

I expected a loss anyway. But they need change 4th line players. For back to back game they should give some good shifts to help the team.

I get that he doesn’t play a lot and ends up with some difficult starts but he knows what he’s here for now.

With league average goaltending tonight, we’re at the very least taking them to overtime. Brutal
