The defence looks pretty good. But the forwards are kinda meh on that graphic.
Regarding the actual team Canada there are about four guys who are questionable. I’d have put Celebrini in there just because but it would likely piss off Bedard for years to come. Weegar and Dobson also deserved to be there. Thank goodness this isn’t the Olympic roster.
Taking Arvidsson over Backlund is a bad idea but also honestly taking Elias Lindholm over Backlund is too, man that dude is overrated. Crazy how a couple good years of playing on a line with Gaudreau and Tkachuk made everyone think Elias Lindholm is something he isn’t.

This is how Ron MacLean would pick the team, a bunch of Oilers and he'd fill out the roster with a bunch of dead guys from his rambling stories that go nowhere.

Totally agree. If you can have one player on your roster, you’re picking Arvidsson over Backlund?
One of them can play PK, C, PP2… and sets a good example. There’s no salary cap in this. Sure he’s old, but who would you want out there when the tournament is on the line?
I don't think Hyman is anywhere near as good as Robert Thomas.
Why are we hearing way more about Hyman than Thomas?
Thomas has been out so his point totals are low (though near PPG). He’s been back only about 2 weeks now so he wasn’t probably on their radar while selection was happening. I think he’s probably at 100% now so he wasn’t he probably could have made the team.
While thats a cool idea, I'm more thinking along the lines of just assign a GM who gets to pick out a team from whoever wasnt already selected, just a completely random mash-up of assorted players.
He could names in a Yahtzee cup for all I care.
Have them play in plain, all-black jerseys, no logo, nothing. Instill a little anarchy into a short tournament.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Wild that Armstrong could find a way to shoehorn Parayko on to the team but left Thomas at home. If he was going to be nepotistic about it he could have at least brought the better player.
That said, I don't mind the Bennett/Cirelli/Jarvis/Hagel additions at all in a short tournament, and Konecny should have always been a lock imo. Dude has a non-stop motor and can play anywhere in the lineup in any role.
5 v 5 in the 1st period
4 v 4 in the 2nd
3 v 3 in the 3rd
2 v 2 in OT
McDavid has to play a minimum of 35 mins a game.
I like it! But also...for each player their sticks have to get 2 inches shorter each period and the goaltenders have to lose 1 piece of equipment every 10 minutes.
Which piece? Dealer's choice. Could be the helmet, a pad, glove or blocker? Stick? Just take something away from them every 10 minutes.
