Interesting to see Huska temporarily bench and demote Zary. The same message clearly motivated Kuzmenko, and we’ll see if it works for Zary.

Both Millen and Hrudey do a good job of walking the homer line. The alternative(s) in Alberta are far worse.

Blatant homerism is awful in all forms. Barnburner as an example is absolute garbage to listen to, I couldn't imagine having them do colour. That would be a fate worse than death.

Might have been flagged by concussion spotters.

ok so a high stick, like a hand pass is a missed stoppage- so they ask him if he wants it reviewed , and had he said yes he risks a PP but by saying no its reviewed anyways- not disputing the rules just seems weird no?

I dunno, I like broadcasters that appear to be fans of the team they are covering, but I did grow up on Ed Whalen broadcasts, so it may have affected me somewhat.

Personally I don't mind a bit of homerism on color these days as long as the PBP guy is a pro... homer PBP is terrible. For me it feels like there is so much oilers bias in the media right now... Kelly not calling out the ref on that blatant trip and then saying nothing on the Bouchard dive on a stick check just really irked me I generally like and respect him

Interesting. I would never want a super homer as a PBP or analyst. Each to their own I guess.

Hrudey tries hard. Way too hard, to try and not sound like a homer. So much so he crosses that line where he becomes an away team apologist. It’s not a great look.

Haha WTF?? They’re not homerish at all. Laughable.

To frustrate and confuse you further, only a highsticked puck that leads to possession is challengeable. A potential highstick that directly deflected the puck into the net for a goal is just an automatic league review.

So if Mantha had highsticked the puck down to himself and then he shot it into the net, that can be challenged. It also becomes the height of his shoulders in that case, and not the crossbar like it is for a highstick goal review...

Clear as mud!

I'd say they are homerish in the sense that they absolutely hate the Oilers, as they should.

But they aren't overly optimistic, which is quite satisfying when the Flames lose or are frustrating. They tend to say what we're feeling, especially Rhett.

You’re just upset because the Flames kicked the Devils ass.

Yeah. They definitely come across as not beholden to Rogers
