Not trying to speak in hyperbole, but IMO there's a good chance when all is said and done that the Flames 2024 draft is looked at as one of the best single drafts by any team in the past 20 years (or more). Can't expect all of them to turn out but man, what a draft that was for Connie and co.

Too bad Zarubin couldn't put up a PPG to join the crowd...

I heard Zarubin just stands in one spot and just blocks shots! It's like he isn't even trying to score!

Funny thing to me is the draft Dallas had (2017, Heiskanen, Oettenger, Robertson), you can argue the Flames had a better draft in 2016 with Tkachuk, Dube and Fox. The Flames drafted a 100 point forward and a norris winning Defenseman, and Dube himself was tracking nicely as a 2nd line Center until his final year with the Flames was marred by the controversy of his transgressions, and he had a terrible year (now we know why).
The difference, of course, is that none of those players still play for the flames, and all of them still play for Dallas. Even more, Dallas had another draft in 2021 and got a top line C in Johnston late in round 1, and Stankoven in round 2, the latter used to get Rantanen, and here we are.
All that said, I think the Flames have the scouting staff and player development capable of rivaling anyone in the league, including Dallas, which is a credit to Button and the rest of the staff. They may have done it again in 2024, and I'm hopeful that that draft can make up for the lack of picks in 2022 and also build on what appears to be a decent 2023 draft with only 6 picks.

I get scared that his player comp is Kris Russell.

Hopefully it is 2017 Dallas Stars like.
2024 for the Flames looked like a home run from the start and a year later that viewpoint has only been strengthened

Zarubin already does that. I heard he even has specialized equipment to help him block even more shots.

Eric Jamieson looks to be progressing well too. Could end up being a solid 4-6 guy on the team. Ray Edwards raved about him recently.

Wildcats v. Tigers final would be purrfect.

Are the Tigers the most stacked team in the Memorial Cup? They pulled in a few big draftees at the deadline it appears. Molendyk, Ryder Ritchie Oasiz weisblatt.

An argument could be made that while the Tigers have a better high-end, the Knights might perhaps have better depth. I still think that London is the team to beat. Just my opinion.

Wiesblatt is such a good player that doesn’t get enough kudos.

Weisblatt has always been in Medicine Hat.
Still a stacked team with some nice adds.

Ya he’s been there from day 1. The Molendyk, Volotovskii trade made zero sense for Saskatoon.

Only significant new face was Molendyk at the deadline. And I guess getting Lindstrom and Basha back were big, too, but Med Hat has just built a stacked, stacked team.

In my limited viewings, it appears the Tigers run three lines, for the most part. Their powerfully is Oileresque, too, in that PP1 stays out for most of the powerplay.
