One thing that is interesting to me is that Brzustewicz skating doesn't appear to be fluid, but he's been very effective and productive in spite of that.
If Dawn Braid Danielle Fujita can improve that stride and make him more explosive then there might be even more upside there.
Let me be fair to Brzustewicz as well - I didn’t come away from this viewing thinking he wasn’t gonna be an NHL defenseman in the next year or two.
He has good size and reach, moves well, and will get stronger as he fills out.
Parekh only outscored Brzustewicz by four points, so I was genuinely curious to see them side by side.
Now, take this with an entire box of coarse sea salt, because it’s just one practice with a bunch of players and coaches that have never skated together.
But if I went in hoping we have two offensive Terminators on the blue line, my first impression is that we have one T-1000 and one Michael Biehn Kyle Reese.
Make of that what you will.

It's funny though...because it reminds me a bit of Cale Makar and Adam Fox back when they were prospects and were competing for the Hobey Baker in their two NCAA seasons where they overlapped.
Parekh is Makar...immediately noticeable, fluid, smooth, and clearly more skilled than the guys around him.
Fox is Brzustewicz...not big, not the fastest but not a bad skater, but somehow is just always effective on the ice. Never really stood out or was flashy, but just gets the job done.
If Parekh and Brzustewicz can even be 75% of what those two guys are we'd still be in pretty good shape with the two of them, and it's nice to have both of them this time around.

Could you imagine?
If there are hockey gods, they owe us this for what Fox did and for a CGY kid going to Colorado to win Norris trophies.

I've seen him listed as low as the 170s but mostly around 180 lbs. Maybe he should do less cardio to be honest. That is crazy skinny for a 6'4" athlete in a contact sport

I have all the confidence that Parekh is going to develop into an exceptional first pair, offensive dman and Brzustewicz is going to develop into an exceptional second pair, offensive Dman. Probably anchoring PP1 and PP2.
Now we need a well-rounded or defensive-minded LD for each of them, and I believe we could have pieces like that in the system already in Weegar and Grushnikov.
i thought Morin looked like one of the better defencemen in the preseason, from what I remember. I would anticipate that he will look better than that this time around.

Yeah; could easily add 30 lbs of muscle without being too heavy. That is a lot. It's going to take a few seasons to add that kind of bulk.
Mom and dad Parekh take a bow. These young men are WOW smart, well spoken, Articulate, charismatic, funny, genuine and there's a definite aura about them.
What a breath of fresh air to be himself....I'm speaking of Zaynes brother here who has an incredible future ahead of him even if hockey doesn't work out and I'm sure it will.
And who's the smart cookie that invites his bruh to this development camp? Damn...we hit a home run on potential here. I hope like the Hughes bros we have found something here that translates into the same scenario and get to enjoy watching for years

Boy, after ever interview I watch of Parekhs, the more I like him.
"What do you thinkmof all the talent out there and possibly having of of the best offensive D men in the league?'
Parekh" do t think about it much, I don't know the team that well and if I'm being perfectly honest, I'm here to take jobs from them, I'm a really competitive guy."
That's the killer instinct we want. We need.

Here's a video I took of a drill of all the D walking the line.
Some highlights include Yegorov doing a punishment push up in the crease, tackling 93 - Murr to prevent a goal, and a killer finish from Parekh on his final attempt - Yegorov wasn't even mad.

I had to find the thread from the 2017 since that feels like that was the last one of these where we had so much excitement around some prospects and wanted to look up what people were saying about Fox.
Great post by Darren Haynes on looking at prospects.

Be excited. Be optimistic. But also, be realistic.
Not to be the porcupine at the balloon party, to quote a chortling Bob Hartley, but both of these young men are still a ways away.
I’ve seen some fans suggest Parekh should get his nine NHL games before the club decides whether or not to send him back to junior.
Have you looked at the schedule?!
In Vancouver. In Edmonton. Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, the Hurricanes, and the Jets visit the Saddledome. The ninth game is in Vegas.
Fans have been pleading for the team to rebuild. Conroy has obliged, yet here in step 1 of many, now some want to fast-track the club’s top prospect to the NHL?
Love the enthusiasm. But let’s pump the brakes on the timeline.
The NHL is not the right place to learn the pro game. That’s what the AHL is for. Especially if you’re a defenceman.
