I can agree with that.

Unfortunately, a market like Calgary isn't going to be attractive to the obvious top coaches. So the ability to pick a diamond in the rough is hugely important, and Treliving just didn't have it.

And now he's in one of the biggest, wealthiest and most desirable markets in the League and...the trend continues.

Are you saying Berube was a bad hire?

I have no idea personally. I'm not even sure Brad picked him.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Shanahan picked him and Brad just bitches that 'its part of the process.'

In that case, I'm not sure how you can really say ‘the trend continues’.

Simple. Management over-rules Treliving and picks their own candidate.

Who do you think hired Sutter? It sure wasn't Brad.

The trend continues.

Dude. Relax. If you go back through all of my posts, Treliving was never 'Fired.'

His contract was simply not renewed.

And usually, if this is all well and good, typically employers would allow him to search out new work. Which they did not. Until convinced to. Why is that? Might be a reason?

I have never claimed to have 'Inside Information' or 'know anyone' but I can extrapolate from data.

People seem to be underestimating how much continuity there is between management regimes in Calgary. Running a team in the modern NHL isn’t a one-man show. It’s a collaboration of 6-9 people. Owner, president, head of hockey operations, GM, assistant GMs, head of scouting, cap guy, analytics guys, etc. They all have their say in every important decision.

Most of the guys who were sitting around that table during Treliving’s tenure are still there. Edwards, Maloney, Pascall, Conroy, etc. The biggest difference between the management under Treliving and under Conroy is that Conroy has been given a green light to re-tool/set/build. He has a different strategic direction than Treliving had. And he didn’t make that call on his own.

Nah. Don’t feel the need to go through your post history. Probably littered with calling people idiots and losers or some other rubbish.

The job was Treliving’s if he wanted it. He didn’t. The ‘idiot’ went to go work as the GM for hockey’s most valuable franchise, aside from, maybe, the New York Rangers. Oh, right, I forgot. He only got that job because his dad is rich.

‘Wake up sheeple!’

A second ago you were arguing he was a piss poor evaluator of coaching talent.

Why do some people feel the need to bully to get a favored result? Not everyone is going to have the same opinion, Locke has been around awhile and a good poster. No need to intimidate someone because he has a different pov. Maybe that is how he genuinely feels for the reasons that he has stated.

So if he hires a bad coach, it's because he can't hire a good coach, and if he hires a good coach, it's because he was overruled by his bosses?

Sounds like a good gig you've got there. Heads you win, tails Treliving loses.

Yeah, Locke is cool. After hearing him tell all the stories where he got hit in the head pretty brutally his personality makes more sense, so you just gotta let it flow.

I have a list of guys who are in need of a good bullying if anybody wants it, though. Fun ones, too. A guaranteed good time.
