f***ing Markstrom always in net in Calgary when we play there.....
Quote:
Great Wall of Markstrom.
Quote:
Please don't fix New Jersey's only problem by trading Markstrom to them, Calgary, the other teams in our division don't need to get any better
Quote:
It feels like hell will freeze over before Geno scores lol… but I would love it

1 team is desperate for making the playoffs and needs all the points they can get.
The other team is Pittsburgh.

I’m ready for disappointment

Let's NOT get shutout again, it might piss Dubas into buying rentals for a playoff push.
Quote:
Gotta be honest, don’t remember the last time I felt so down turning on a Penguins game. Knowing that we’re waiving the white flag and that Guentzel is the goner just sucks. It never should have gotten to this point. And Dubas waffling on what he’s looking for in return does not exactly inspire much confidence, even if I think a return of prospects probably is a better choice rather than a return of draft picks.
Edit: Your downvotes without replying to tell me why you disagree with this only make me stronger.

I will say, it was nice not having to see Sid and Malkin pass it back and forth for 1:30 of the PP

Every game Reirden is allowed to put Eller over Malkin on PP1 is a game Dubas himself deserves to be fired. f*** this org right now
Quote:
#### awareness after the pp as per normal.
Quote:
It's weird Sid is killing his own line.
Quote:
That's the 2nd shift this line has controlled the puck for the entire shift and done nothing but skate it around the perimeter with no one ever getting open or screening the goalie.
Quote:
"Nobody there for the rebound" = Sully smallpuck at its finest.
Quote:
So much zone time and so many passes and one hopeless shot - the story of the Pens.
Quote:
But we effectively killed off 2 minutes off the clock...
Quote:
The Pens are clueless how to score goals either 5v5 or PP. Just a lot of skating around and passing with no one in front of the net for deflections, screens, rebounds, etc. If it weren't for Crosby being superhuman, this team would be sunk.
Quote:
DOC why in the actual #### do you think another drop pass is going to be successful when Crosby LITERALLY JUST drop passed to you
Quote:
Am i losing my mind? The ####ing drop passes instead of shots is making me insane
Quote:
Sick 3 drop passes there to avoid a shot
Quote:
Two drop passes on a two on one somebody please put me out of my misery

What the f*** are you doing Doc.

Fastest I’ve seen Crosby skate in a long time… and he drops the puck back

Yikes. Not good from Puustinen.
Quote:
Puusty grab some pine.......
Quote:
lol it was nice meeting you Puusty...and L2 is back to bad luck and goals against
Quote:
I have to blame Letang there over Puustinen. Like a 90-10 fault split.
Terrible goal by Jarry. Terrible pass by Puustinen. Terrible effort by Letang.
Quote:
I love how it has been a consistent thing for years under Sully where the Pens can play like 20+ great minutes of hockey and then completely unravel in the span of two shifts
Quote:
What was that goal? Such a weird ol lay on defense and by Jarry
Quote:
I like this score. I would like it if the Pens could add to it over the rest of this hockey game while the Flames do not score anything.
Quote:
Ugh. We’re going into the third with a lead and we know they forget how to play hockey when that happens
Quote:
He shakes his head on the bench but he’s the one who has 71 and 77 out there together. They’re easily the two slowest guys on the team. Don’t put them on the ice together numbnuts.
Coast to Coast Kadri

Oof. Nice goal by Kadri

Well #### me.

That looked like a goal from 1986. Mostly the lack of D and flailing goalie.

eesh. Kadri completely walked Letang.

Disgusting defense by every ####ing player on the ice there

Neat.

Another two goal lead- gone.

This team has a lot of quit in it.

Twice Letang got beaten for goals tonight
Quote:
Why does this always happen? every time they go up 2 they can not put the game away
Quote:
Pens three best defensemen were just embarrassed in the span of 40 seconds.

This team is so bad.
The Flames had 14 shots after 50 minutes and you blow a 2 goal lead
Quote:
Letang gets physically abused by Kadri and then Karlsson/Pettersson on different planets.
Quote:
Lol…we either trail after burning out after playing 20 min of hockey or we choke up leads lol…great team
Quote:
God this team is embarrassing.
Quote:
I think teams are now just giving the Pens leads in the third period knowing they'll blow them.
Quote:
A thrid period two goal lead..
Is it:
A) coaching issue
B) leadership
C) goaltending
D) all of the above
Quote:
How many blown third period leads is this now?
If there ever was a bigger sign that this team doesn't have what it takes, I can't imagine it.
Quote:
Outplayed them for the bulk of the game. And then this crap.
Quote:
That was certainly one of the defensive efforts of all time.

what 9 million for defense like that?

They’re gonna lose this and it is gonna be hilarious.
Sharan-GWGoal-Vich!

I think Letang left his brain in Pittsburgh. That was worse than getting worked by Kadri.
Quote:
Letang should retire after this game. Not kidding.
Quote:
Like what the hell was Letang looking at there? That's unbelievable lmao.
I'd be mad if I didn't already know we're f***ed in the standings. As it is it's more sad/funny than anything
Quote:
Unbelievable. We were the better team for probably 80% of this game.
Quote:
Letang almost siglehandedly cost us this game.
One of the worst turnovers ive ever witnessed.
I love tanger. Have his jersey. But this level of play can not be tolerated.
Quote:
I'm sorry but this team is fundamentally broken. What a shameful result.
Quote:
What a freaking unbelievable crappy ####show ending
Quote:
That’s gotta be the nail in the coffin for this season. What a disappointment. I wonder if Sid will finish his career somewhere else to chase another championship.
Quote:
Letang certainly screwed up on that GWG, but Graves get some blame, too. Thst happened during the seven seconds Calgary was on the Powrr Play. The correct play was for him to shoot it down the ice.
Quote:
This game may have just ended our playoff push. How can anyone say with any confidence that this team has any chance at competing for the cup?
Guentzel's gone. Perhaps a bit of an overreaction on my end but I think you can pack this season in.
Quote:
Not an overraction. Season is done. Missing jake and rust, as well as constantly blowing leads. Sell and retool for next season is the smart move
Quote:
This 45-50 minute team has tuned Sully out. Get back to our game and play the right way means nothing. Day don’t care. Pfft
Quote:
Wow. This is ridiculous. The players have quit. That's the only explanation for such repeatedly putrid performance. I hate to say it, but they might need a total rebuild now. And that means...trade Jake and Jarry for good return, jettison Geno or trade him for a low-round draft pick, and maybe trade Petterson only because he has good value right now. Then burn it all down for a season and come back stronger afterward.

I feel like every game I’ve watched this year has been a blown lead or overtime loss. And I’ve watched a lot of ####ing games.

It’s almost ####ing comical at this point. I’d have been angry a few years back, at this point I can’t even get mad. Same old ####ing story

I try to be positive and defend this pens team, but then they manage to blow games in ways I didn’t even know were possible

The blooper real that could be put together on Letangs career …my lord…
Quote:
Hey the dude that gave the game away is right back out there. Way to hold em accountable coach no nuts.
Quote:
I’m not blaming Jarry but he’s played like absolute ass tonight. 3 goals that have been relatively weak. Defense has been awful, but those aren’t hard saves.
Quote:
i would actually like to thank jeff carter for being not #### tonight , i would like to challenge tristan jarry to save a beach ball from going into the net
Quote:
When these Pens' get put on their heels by an opponent they're almost completely incapable of changing the momentum.
Quote:
Just from watching the scores, seeing a 4-3 loss is like "damn, it sucks they lost but that's a close game". Watching this team blow a 3-1 lead with like 10 minutes left in the 3rd due to their own stupidity? Yeah, I get why people are pissed.
Quote:
There is not a compelling reason to NOT blow this team up, except if you're counting on Sidney Crosby's existence to drive corporate sponsorship revenue 3-4 years down the line. Purely looking at it from a hockey perspective, this group is done competing. Crosby, Malkin, and Letang can play on Stanley Cup contending teams, but it won't be together here. It will be as supporting characters in other situations.
F**** Mike Sullivan as well.
Quote:
This is the rub. This team could have had a chance at a cinderella story, but we'll never know because they were too scared or too arrogant to do anything that could have made a difference.

Yes, excellent job by the Flames last night. McLennan was great, Kiprusoff nervous for sure, as he seemed more relaxed in the other clips we've seen the past days.
The mild surprise for me was Phanuef, never been associated really with the Flames alumni at all since he left, but good for him to come back.
Sutter was glad to see. Obviously no way Kiprusoff would've ever made it here without him. But Sutter doesn't do token things just because someone (from the Flames ) asked him to be on the ice. Don't think he was there for Iginla's, for example. So, he got asked and wanted to be there or Miika asked him to be there. For me this is akin to the Phanuef draft hug.
We came to the realization last night that there is unlikely to be a jersey retirement for the Flames for a while. Unless Gaudreau comes back tomorrow and picks up where he left off two years ago for the next 5-6 years, or one of the current roster goes on a tear for the next 5-7 years and wins a Cup or two (even then it's 10 years at least before they have a ceremony) it's 15 years from now at least for the next dominant player to play for the Flames have achieve top success as an individual and as part of a team, and then get a ceremony.

I go back and forth on Gio. He's not a HOFer, but undrafted, years of service- and was a trophy winner at his best. probably not (and not saying that's wrong) but...

True, though jersey retirement for him, it doesn't jump out at me. Longevity to me means not much, but the undrafted status and Norris trophy, sure.
What an awesome night of nostalgia, a great entertaining hockey game, and getting to see so many former Flames' players and alumni all evening long. Say what you will about the on-ice performance and whatnot, but the Flames are a pretty classy organization from top to bottom and it really showed. So great to see so many familiar faces and hear so many great tales about Kipper's time here. I wish his teams could have won more, but hard not to like all the individuals that made up his teammates during that time.
Dude is very clearly a legend around these parts and it was so cool to see him and his family soak it all in and for him to let down his walls and allow the fans to get a glimpse of the person he really is. Easily the most fun and nostalgic "legends" night I've seen personally from this team.
Very glad the team won this one is such an entertaining fashion. And how amazing was it to see Iggy sitting up with management during the 3rd. I'm rooting so hard for Conroy to get this team where we all want it to be in the future. Awesome to see the fan's reaction when D. Sutter was announced, glad to see his legacy is still intact with the city.
Just a 10/10 night overall and one I won't forget anytime soon.

I like these Pens fans. They have a certain...dark, condescending dread that I can identify with.
Some of those comments were really good.
I liked this one:
Best.

Definition of "Forever a Flame"? (RIP KK)
yeah like I say I'm not convinced myself, but I guess the whole package- longevity by itself isn't or shouldn't be a decider but he was anyways a good face of the team and community and very few Flames have won 'best of' position awards so I dunno he seems interesting to ponder
(mind you I think 2 should be retired and don't know what to say about FAF), almost like FAF needs to be slightly downgraded even to a ring of honor or something where a different level of players ( to me examples might include Loob, Roberts, Otto, someday Backs , Regehr etc end up- and if that is where Gio or Johnny or ...end up some day also fine)
FAF right now is basically hall of famers that we drafted and starred wearing the Flaming C but abandoned us
Sorry if this has been mentioned, but what was the deal with Singh saying McDavid while calling Kadri's goal? Is that the only thing on his mind all day?

I think his ‘driving to the net’ just sounds like McDavid
