didn't even get one game

You have to wonder if the NHL will become just like the NBA where players can opt to not play, be waived mid-season, only to be signed by a contender for the league minimum.

This league has become such a farce. How did both Kane and Perry manage to work their ways to Edmonton in this manner? It would be funny if the Oilers end up moving Kane at the deadline for an upgrade on their back end.

I am glad it seems as if others are finally starting to wake up to this issue.

Just had a look through the Coilers HF boards...

They think that he really wanted to play with McDiver, so took a cut to sign with the Coilers over every other team.

Just when I think that the delusion is as deep as it can go for those fans, they find a way to go deeper...

It seems fitting this happened the same day Kylington returned to practice with the Flames. A real contrast between the two teams.

Some days, it's not easy being a Flames fan, but today isn't one of those days.

On the other hand, it's always easy to hate the Oilers, but some days it's even easier than others.

Everyone here thinks Roman Turek walked away from the last year of his deal without getting any financial compensation from the Flames? That was about as blatant as could be.

as much as this is BS...better teams will be adding better players soon

Oilers are squeaking by non playoff teams in fake record fashion (3 on 3 and SO) but they still don't win a seven game series with the big boys IMO. Especially after the Avs and Stars of the world go all in at the deadline

pretty sure he didn't assault anyone in the organization...and if he did the Flames would be plastered all over the news not swept under the rug.

I just think it's great that the CBA has already special oilers rules for not attempting to dress an NHL, and for 'winning' the draft lottery too often, and now upon the next negotiation will need one for circumvention of the waivers process.

It's clear that if a player is waived for the purpose of termination other teams should have 3 options,
1) claim him on the existing contract,
2) pass and you cannot sign for the period of time that was remaining on the contract if he is terminated,
3) pass and sign him for at minimum the term and dollars that were remaining on the deal.

Anything less than one of those 3 standards should be seen as cap circumvention and abuse of the waivers process.

Someone needs to put a plaque outside of Rogers Arena in Edmonton similar to the one by the Statue of Liberty...

"Give us your worn, your tired, your unwanted persons still yearning to play.
Your Suspended, your Domestic Abusers, your DUI escapers.
Send these, the unwanted to me...I lift my toilet lid for thee."

Come forth and make us great

I am not sure if that is true or not, but it was before the salary cap era, so who cares? It wouldn't have mattered to anyone else.

Pretty sure the Oilers are in violation of provincial law by bringing a rat into Alberta

His last season in the NHL was the year before. If he would have wanted to come to the NHL, the Flames likely would have used a buyout on him anyway.

Not bloody likely. That team doesn't do anything without seeking approval from McDivey. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that McDivey probably told Holland to sign Perry. What McDivey wants, McDivey gets.

If the media don't hassle them at least a little bit on this, they'll be confirming to every one that they're 100% bought.

Don't cower in fear because of Katzing Couch.

there will be one softball question, followed by a "Corey is deeply sorry for what he did, he's learned from it and has a long track record of being a great guy. we've done our due dilgence and we know Corey Perry is not who these allegations say he is"

then the obligatory Staples et all articles the next day singing his praises and who amongst us hasn't made a mistake in our youth etc

LOL did anyone hear the questions thrown at Holland today? He was asked how much he knew about the incident and he fully admitted he didn't know all the details. Nick Kypreos said no other teams had interest because there wasn't enough information provided on what happened and they wanted nothing to do with that. What a greasy organization the Oilers have become.
