Mang has been good but not great this season, people are expecting way too much from him. He makes $5.8M, not $8M, he shouldn't be expected to be a PPG player.
He's on pace for 52 points which is perfectly fair production for his $5.8M contract.

He is also a turnover machine. Again, as I said before, Backlund was making less and was a 60 point two way centre. If the Flames can dump Mangiapane they should but I don't see anyone biting on that contract.
