Every trade proposal people have for the coilers is basically just send back Campbell and a few bad contracts to get a maintainable starter and young team controlled players, like all that is needed to approve the trade is cap numbers. No one looks at their “save the oiler season” trade idea and asks if any of those pieces make sense for their trade partner.
“Team x has an underperforming and overpaid goalie, they’ll take Campbell almost 1 for 1!” Like my guy, Campbell can’t even roster as a backup he’s playing so bad, so they are going to take bad cap and then still need to call up a goalie, and they get McLeod or something, how does that move the needle? It just makes them worse. Especially when they start talking about maybe getting a Monahan or Pesce or something tossed in for peanuts. What team is sabotaging their season just to help Holland?
