The returns for certain players weren't there this Summer, but also - if we look at what Conroy said he was looking for in the Toffoli trade, perhaps Conroy was targeting trades for "now", at which point - yeah, thank goodness he didn't trade anyone else in the Summer.
The Flames also didn't try to trade Lindholm this Summer...that should be in full flight now.

What was Conroy supposed to do exactly? He was dealt a truly awful hand. Treliving left him with a collection of players with no identity, we have to give him more than one summer to do something about it.
Same thing for Huska. He has a terrible collection of players. This isn’t a team. I’m furious that Kadri was signed. Hated it at the time, and he’s not changing my mind.
I haven’t watched a full game yet, and honestly, I don’t know if I will this year. I’ve got too many other things I’d rather do.
23 years I’ve been a part of this forum.. I stick around for everything but the Flames these days. I’m pissed at myself for not disabling auto renewal of Sportsnet+.

I'm not saying Conroy is going to continue to be terrible.
His first Summer on the job? Which we can assess, was absolutely terrible.

Go back to the power play where Kadri couldn’t shoot three times in a row or Lindholm double clutching every pass. His style doesn’t work with the forward mix and he’s trying to adapt. It’s not going well

We're gonna need some of these players to show something.
Even if management wakes up to reality, they'll need players with decent trade value leading up to the deadline this year.
Right now, we couldn't even receive much value back to fill the cupboards.

Conroy said there were offers of picks in future years. Conroy said that's not what the Calgary Flames were looking for. The key to the return was Sharangovich, a 25 year old (healthy scratch). A player they could have step in right away.
You don't trade for Sharangovich if you're planning for the future. It was a dumbass trade.
