This team doesn't have core to build, and most expensive players makes the dumpiest decision in critical time. May we needs ship out some guys and try to find younger players that can help in the future.
And Sutter not helping these guys. Why just put Lindholm, Backlund pair in OT. They play great in PK together, and they should play better in OT /except Backlund today/
Sutter's man on man in D zone tactics is bad. Ds chasing LV's forwards all the way to blue line and leaving single D in blue zone. When something unexpected accident happens everybody panics and don't know what to do and leaving someone always open. But when we got the puck and wanted to the quick transition somehow one of D will be first guy rushing in front and the forwards are late.

Kerr on After Burner: “this team needs to get into the playoffs, it’s a reality of the situation. They need the revenue…”

That stood out to me a little bit.

He just won't make any damn changes.

Can't wait for Trelieving to be fired so new GM Sutter can prioritize getting Lucic signed before he goes to free agency this summer.
Treliving can't be fired the guys contract ends after this season either he's resigned or he walks, I doubt Sutter becomes GM I'm surprised he was willing to come back after this season.

I think Vladar was Okay. The third goal may be stoppable but Hanifin was worse. Vladar gave the Flames chance to win this game.

This sounds like a take from someone with some inside knowledge

Would be strange to explicitly state from the outside

Obviously every team wants the revenue, but saying they need it is peculiar

Maybe Murray should tell Brad to call up his budding star goalie if they need the revenue that badly

Kerr with a good note (paraphrasing):

“This team doesn’t need to be ridiculed or mocked, it needs to be held to a higher standard”

The day of reckoning is almost upon us for the flames. They’ve pissed away so many points this season it’s truly unbelievable.

It’s the beauty of sports. No one cares. You’re just not good enough.

Obviously Kerr is going to be tapped in far deeper than the average person so I'm not going to claim that he's wrong, but I just dont see how this is true.

I dont see the Flames in any dire straits in terms of finances as far as operations are concerned.

I would only really believe this if its within the context of funding larger plans or with reference to potentially recouping losses suffered from the COVID seasons.

They're not lighting anything on fire (on or off the ice) but I dont think they're financially desperate. Besides, what is playoff revenue anyways? Isnt it something like ~$2M per home game? Barring a deep run which, either way, seems highly unlikely drug-fueled fever dream, thats not going to move the needle a whole lot.

This team is too unfocused to sit on a lead

Outshot 9-1 in the 3rd

So they can get their new arena… so we can have another 25-30 years of being fed mediocre entertainment at top dollar. Kerr can go wipe his chin after leaving Murray Edwards office.

Total wrong way to look at it. If they traded 10 million worth of contracts at the deadline for futures they would save 2.5 million in costs for the rest of the season, which is probably more than they would net from 2 playoff games.

Then why BT spent too much last offseason for bad plan.
They should just sold all better and expensive players during offseason and now then we be saving lots from salary and would have a few draft picks from the trade and would looking for another high pick this draft.

Being I'm living in the UK for the moment, I don't get to watch many other teams. However, are there any other teams which start their most defensive and likely the least offensive defenseman in OT off the draw?

It seems that Sutter loves to put Tanev out there at the start. I get the jest of it, in case the flames lose the faceoff. However, that goes to show how the Flames just love to play it safe in most aspects.
