I like after each goal scored on Philly, the camera pans to Tort's face. He just grins now, where as the crowd is expecting him to stab the back up goaltender in the back with a set of scissors.
And yeah Markstrom pretty much sucks balls.

Seeing the replays I’m convinced that there was goaltender interference on the winning goal

One more “easy” game and then the next seven will be a blitzkrieg.

Hopefully by the end the Flames path will be chosen.

I highly doubt they will still be in the race. I think there’s a reckoning coming for this team. It needs to be put out of it’s misery.

I'm sure Markstrom would have let the ref know if there was interference.

The guy complains about a goal when no one was near him vs New York.

He was complaining because he was bumped earlier and there was no call. Was a legit complaint.

The thing is, we never know what team will show up. They can play like garbage against lesser teams and play great against elite teams. We won't know until about half way through the first period of each game.

I still think they make the playoffs.

Watched the replay at least a dozen times. Allison kicks Markstom’s left skate with his own right skate just as he’s redirecting it. Markstrom’s skate was moving right to left just before the contact but was moving left to right as the puck went in. The only possible cause that would obey the known laws of physics would be if Allison’s skate, which was in the crease, kicked Markstrom’s skate. But the call on the ice was a good goal, and the Flames probably didn’t want to take a risk on a challenge. It wasn’t called that way, but it 100% was goaltender interference.

Having said that, Markstrom wasn’t great, and the same could be said for many of the Flames. Playing down to the level of the competition again.

Math will hold them accountable though. They are getting to the point where they are going to have to win 2 out of 3 to get in.

There is no way that is happening.

It is possible. If you choose to throw in the towel that's fine, but I'm not. I'll wait until they are out before I give up on the season. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they want on a run.

Expected goals was 4.6 to 1.9 in favor of the flames. Flames might not have great finish, but they generated more than enough and would have won the game 3-2 with average goaltending.

The stats suggest this a very good team with horrific goaltending. It's time to call up wolf. Its all upside...and the upside is massive if he plays well.

This has happened so many times this season, where flames are clearly the better team but lose due to below average goaltending.

Not to be a total downer but given what we've seen to this point I would be legitimately surprised if they went on a run.

I don’t know. I’ve been hoping for the same thing too. But I don’t think I’ve seen a team as prone to shooting themselves in the foot as this version of the Flames.

It’s the one thing they are consistently good at. Screwing up golden opportunities. They are the G.O.A.T. at that.

You need average goaltending to go on a run.

When it breaks down it breaks down in spectacular fashion. The defensive switch where Hanifin did a fly by, the handling the puck like it was a hand grenade that lead to the 2 on one 1 goal after the PP expired, forwards lost and chasing the puck and left the mainstreet wide open on the DeAngelo goal, and Zadorov not playing the pass well and letting the puck go under him. A lot of things that need to be cleaned up.

Flames need to go on a .650 run to make the playoffs at this point. It's only going to be possible if they get goaltending; and that's not going to happen with Markstrom. Either Sutter finally leans on Vladar to carry them there, and/or they call up Wolf and he contributes positively.

Stats - schmatts. My eyes tell me this is not a good team at all.

Opponents bury all their chances, flames either miss the net or pass one too many. They were definitely better team for most of the game. Just frustrating to watch

Say what you want but I think this team is a threat in playoffs with good goaltending. I think it’s built for playoffs and we would have been solidly at the top of the division if we got even average goaltending

Not that I've really looked into it but this is what I've never understood about expected goals. Like if your team just doesn't have finishing ability, what good does it do? I mean teams aren't equal in their ability to score, some teams may need twice the chances to score equal amount of goals than others. Yeah you can say they create a lot but that's it.

It would honestly be easier if they got dominated every game.

They are their own worst enemy. It’s actually incredible to watch.
