That Nashville game too. The focus is on Winnipeg but they technically need to jump Nashville too.

If they can get on a roll here the next two weeks then there is the strong potential that the Flames have two games that week that potentially could determine their playoff fate.

I don't think you can be so sure that it's just a two team race. The other teams all play each other a bunch, and any team hitting a 4ish game slide can drop to the bottom of the pile pretty quickly.

for 96 points ( all hail the snake) the Flames will need 25 points in 17 games: 12-4-1, 11-3-3, 10-2-5 or my favorite 8-0-9.

And if that happens, the Flames will finally be going into the playoffs on a hot streak!

Yes please to the 8-0-9 option if only for the Oilers fans salty tears. And then we win every OT game in the playoffs.

Jets fall out first, then the Oil, with Flames and Predators taking the 2 wildcard spots.

Looking at their games remaining (Nashville), if they do get in, they would be a dark horse. Look at the below schedule. I can't see them get more than 7 more wins.

They play these teams at home so 3 lesser opponents.
Detroit Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks
Winnipeg Jets
Seattle Kraken
Seattle Kraken
Toronto Maple Leafs
St. Louis Blues
Vegas Golden Knights
Carolina Hurricanes
Minnesota Wild
Colorado Avalanche

and on the road 1 lesser opponent + Sabres and Penguins who are still figthing for a spot.
Arizona Coyotes
Los Angeles Kings
New York Rangers
Buffalo Sabres
Boston Bruins
Pittsburgh Penguins
Dallas Stars
Winnipeg Jets
Calgary Flames

A Calgary Dallas round 1 rematch, where they are the favourite this time, would be fun.

So basically, we can't lose more than 4 games in regulation from here until the end of season just to make the dance.

I like it. No limping into the first round.

I am skeptical that 96 points will be required to make the playoffs.

I am aswell, but 96 points is the only way the Flames can control their own destiny.

We aren't out until we lose to one of our craphole teams in our pisspoor division.

So if we lose to the Ducks next game, stick a fork in us!

hmmm i guess that wasn't a very optimist post...

Child’s play. We could play all games with 4 skaters and pull that off.

Yawn.

A lot of intra divisional games, and a lot of the other teams trying to make it have to play against top teams.

I think you're right. Although 96 points seems like the sort of mathematical certainty point.
