No tweets from Matheson or Jones. Staples just links to an article. Clearly this one even the local media water carriers don't want to pump the organization's tires for this one like they would for basically anyone else who would be hailed as "saving" the season.

And again, this isn't Holland. He will get the blame when it doesn't work, but this is those above him making the decision to spend the last of their cap on a PR nightmare. And there is always an element of doing something drastic to show McDavid they will do whatever it takes to win, in the hopes he will stay.

You'd think McDavid would want better defence or goalies. Not another offensive player to hog the spotlight.

This is obviously a plan to make the Oilers realize that Draisaitl and Nurse aren't so bad afterall.

Holland's right brain counter, counter back: No Evander, come play for us and I pay you $2.1M and I'll add a NMC

Kane: Ok, I'll come play for you then.

According to Oilers intermission panel, Kane chose the Oilers over every other team. They are gushing over this. Barf.

I don't see this as a bad move by the Oilers. Yeah, they needed a goaltender or a defenseman more, but their MO is to try and outscore their opponent. Kane will help in that regard. This adds another dangerous weapon to their top six and gives them two very dangerous lines. That is something the Flames can't say. The Flames have the advantage everywhere else, but the game is won by scoring more goals than the other guy. The Oilers get a leg up by this move. Will it be enough to make up for other shortcomings? We're going to find out.

Are we really applying dignity to that group?

They come back EVERY year to trash talk us. Since 2006.

"More goals than the other guys", not just "more goals".
They haven't gained any advantage by adding another one dimensional player who's usually a (-) player.

Lots that doesnt pass the logic test on this one.

If Kane was cleared by the NHL how did the sharks void his contract and how was he eligible to sign a new contract?
Lots of speculation that Tippett was one bad loss away from being fired, but you add a player with a reputation for sewering rooms and give him a Nmc so the coaches have no choice but to keep him, further neutering the coaches.
Worried about McDavid being unhappy so sign a player universally hated by his teammates.
It's crazy town up there.

This. After they fire Tippett, what credible coach would want to go there?

NMC is for all the creditors, as is half of his salary basically being a signing bonus, to get out from some of the trouble he's in asap.

Don't have to worry about fracturing a dressing room that there already is and has been, a canyon between the tier 1 and tier 2 players.

The spin that Snet is will be forcing down our throats this weekend will be nauseating on this signing.

We've seen down years from so many players that skip camp. Is Kane even in shape?

Well.. I'm glad sports and money trumps human decency I guess. Gotta keep up with the nfl right. Wasn't long ago everybody was saying he shouldn't play another game.

8pts in 5 AHL games. So, presumably at least somewhat in shape.
