I still wouldn't bet against him being deported from what I'm reading on the matter. If he stays, I truly hope boos and questions are rained down on him relentlessly throughout the event. What he's doing is not right and sets a very bad example on so many levels.

If Novak does play, you wonder how bad the crowd behavior could get (e.g. yelling out during his service motion, clapping/cheering on every fault etc.) I miss the days when this was known as the "happy slam".

So the number two ranked player on the WTA tour (Aryna Sabalenka) has the serving yips and has resorted to serving underhanded as she has recorded 39 double-faults in two consecutive matches in 2022. I hope she can get it figured out in time for the Aussie Open.

Speaking of players who need to find their form, Raducanu just lost 6-0, 6,1 to #13 ranked Rybakina.

I think the 2022 Aussie women's title is Ash Barty's to lose, she won both the singles and doubles (with partner Storm Sanders) in Adelaide and is exuding confidence out there on the court.

I mean, making false statements to border officials usually gives them the power to deny entry. I realize that there are different rules for famous people in a lot of cases, but Australia has had some of the most strict lockdown rules as far as COVID is concerned.

So Bernard Tomic lost his qualifying match to Roman Safiullen 6-1 6-4 and then announced that he thinks he's going to test positive for COVID. Why even play the match then?

Tennis star Novak Djoković claims that he tested positive for the coronavirus on Dec. 16. But the digital test result suggests otherwise. This and a suspected false statement could create new visa problems for the athlete in Australia.
It's a pretty long article, but in a nutshell, there are questions about when Djokovic had his COVID test and whether or not he did indeed test positive. The reason a positive test is key is that it's his only way to gain entry into Australia as he is unvaccinated.

Didn't he just make in-court submissions that he tested positive? Did he perjure himself, then? Knowingly mislead the Court?
It'd be really neat if the outcome of all of this was that he had to go to prison for the duration of the tourney.

I would hope it is relentless and further tarnishes his "legacy".
Not only is he a liar, he's rubbing his ability to flaunt the rules in everyone's faces in a country that has been so severely restricted for so long. It's one thing to have tried to get in, but once he was denied he should have done the only right thing that was available to any decent human - quietly leave.

I did come across this little nugget from the ATP...
Now I sincerely doubt much would come of this as we know that the ATP rarely investigates anything of importance.

Rebecca Marino wins her 2nd qualifying match at the Aussie Open 6-3 6-4 over Kateryna Bondarenko. One match win away from a spot in the main draw and a nice payday.
