Johnny is electric every time he has the puck. I really really hope we keep him.

Obviously there were a LOT of warts to work out from last season. This is when you want to iron out your issues - before any of the results matter.
I'd rather have some honest meetings in these few weeks, and have Sutter butt heads with some guys now as opposed to on a train or bus mid season to turn it around.
If we were doing well or even okay now, I could see another complacent start to the season being more likely.

And see to me, it’s a troubling continuation of last season. Not a blip.

Thought Valimaki had a good shift including starting the breakout that lead to the goal.

Locking down a deal with Buffalo would go a very long way towards accomplishing that.
Unless the group has a great year under Sutter.

Exactly how I look at it.
Conversely, the Oilers have outscored their opposition 10-0 so far. They will be reading their own press clippings, and good luck to the coaches trying to get on their asses.

So you expected them to just be magically cured of all of last season's problems right off the hop when they came together again?
Doesn't work like that. They have to work their bad habits and poor efforts out of their game. Takes time. That's why a real training camp is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Sutter is one of a handful on the planet that can mentor them to playing a competitive team game.
I don't trust Treliving's "process", but I do trust Sutter's.

Duher might actually make this team. He's got speed for a big man.
Really liking the Kylington with Tanev idea.

They have actually had sustained pressure in the later part of that period.

Oilers should be the most skeptical and cautious team with their history of falling over their own inflated egos.
They won't learn anything over their training camp if they just start McDavid against tweeners and pat themselves on the back for it, which is exactly what they will do.
Team that shoots their load in October is the kind that gets swept by a middling team in April in embarrassing fashion.

Liked that burst of speed by Duehr. Some good puck movement with Kylington and Tanev, Oliver needs to keep doing that and he'll be fine. Tkachuk with a really bad pass right to Eberle at the end there.

Only real concern from that period is in our own end where we continue to struggle busting up the cycle. If we aren't a good defending team it won't go well for us, the Flames will need to sort that out.
