They'll need a LOT more kicks at the can to get one right the way they're going.
Not too concerned.
8 years would be pretty glorious though. Would be another match on the heap of tires for when CM bolts for greener pastures.

- 8 years for a 29 year old
- >5 million for a guy with a career high of 41 points, playing primarily with Mather and Matthews
(For comparison sake Backlund signed a 5 year deal, also at 29 years old, for close to the same AAV but was coming off his career high of 53 points and is much more valuable being a center that wins draw and is great defensively).
Keep doing Kenny things, Ken.

I actually find it kind of dumb on Toronto’s part to not move on from Nylander instead. They have enough high end skill, they need players like Hyman. And have a slim window.

With Hyman on that list you have three completely different players.

Agreed...with one thing in common. A bad contract signed by a decent player can still damage a team.

Nylander has been arguably the best of their top forwards in the playoffs

Starting to think Hyman was just using Edmonton as leverage against Toronto.

I don’t disagree, I just don’t see them moving Tavares, Matthews, or Marner.

Please please please Dubas sign him to 8x5.125 and then just not do the trade to the Oilers. That would be epically hilarious.

But when Katz Jr. plays NHLxx, he plays with line changes turned off. Isn't that also a thing in real hockey?

Fun fact: A researcher once actually tried this experiment to see what would happen. Not for 1,000 monkeys, or for the length of time required to produce the works of Shakespeare, obviously. He set it up so the monkeys were rewarded for typing by getting food pellets.
It seems that if you put a thousand monkeys in a room with a thousand typewriters, they will bang on one key over and over until they get tired of it, after which, presumably, they wander off and fling poo at one another. If you want a random-number generator, don't hire a monkey.
If you hired a monkey to run the Edmonton Oilers, he would probably discover that playing with the phone is fun, and speed-dial Staples 370 times a day to screech at him. This would make him the best GM the Oilers have had since Sather left town.

Imagine 7MM for a player whose career high is 41 points.
What a world we live in.

Coilers are out of their skulls for picking either of these options.
I love it!!!!

I legitimately think I could do a better job than many of these people if they think 6x7 makes sense. Francis’ performance for the expansion draft was like a comedy sketch. So bad. So, so, so terrible. My god. I am kind of in shock still waiting for the picks to roll in or shoe to drop.
