I played under a current NHL GM or coach in four different cities.
I played in 2/3 cities that a player that retired in the last 12 months played in.
The retired player played for a third team. I was traded for a player that played or plays for the other team in the state/province of the third team that the retired player played in. I didnt not play for that team.
Who am I?

Palffy is not the retired player.
The retired player played his last game in 2003-04, but officially announced his retirement in 2005 after the lockout was over.
That player played in 3 NHL cities. Player X played in 2/3 of the cities that the retired player played in.
The third city that the retired player once played in and player X did not play in has another NHL city in its state/province.
A player that plays in the other city in that state/province was once traded for player X.
Who is player X?
I hope thats a bit more clear.

Do you mean the same coach/GM for all 4 cities or 4 different GM/coaches(who are still currently in the NHL) in 4 different cities?

The same coach or GM coached this player in 4 different NHL cities.
The coach that coached the player is a current NHL coach or GM.
Sorry about all the confusion. Its getting harder and harder to make challenging questions that are still solvable.

I love the tough questions, just don't present them on days ending in 'y'.
Actually I'm just having a brain dead day... and its lasting all week long. The coach or GM may be Mike Keenan?

Yepp,
Mark Messier is the retired player. He played in Vancouver, Edmonton and New York. Noonan played in Vancouver and New York. Thats 2/3.
The third team that Messier played for was Edmonton. The other city in that state/province is Calgary.
Tony Amonte plays for Calgary and was once traded for Noonan.

Since the last one I made was tougher and I had to give a hint......i'll make this an easy one.
I didn't even play equivalent to 6 seasons (game wise) in the NHL yet I was a member of 3 Stanley Cup Winning Teams. I once took a backhanded penalty shot all the way from center ice. I share a common name with one of the top 50 players as chosen by the Hockey News to ever play in the NHL.

Lets see if we can get this thread going again...
I averaged well over 2.25 points per game in juniors. While I did well for myself in the NHL (nearly ppg) I wasn't quite as prolific as I was in juniors. I played in back to back Stanley Cup finals but for two different teams. Who am I?
Sorry OILFAN, I didn't see your question.... can we get a hint?

It isn't Claude Lemieux but I worded the question so somebody would think that it was.

I'll take a wild guess with my shallow hockey knowledge...
Petr Sykora (New Jersey Devils in 2001 - 02, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 2002 - 03)
Note: There is also a second Petr Sykora that played in the NHL... thats pretty weird

The Devils went to the finals in 2000-01.
Good guess though.

Sorry STeeLY it wasn't Sykora.
This particular fellow retired in the 90s. In the seasons that he made back to back Cup appearances, he wasn't a part of the winning team.
