Man the Flames need to link up Gaudreau with someone with pace with his reluctance to play between the dots right now. Shoulder checked and saw where Monahan and Ritchie were and knew he needed to kill 15 seconds for them to catch up.
He isn’t willing to drive to the net 1-on-2 or 3 by himself anymore so playing with those two cruise ships doesn’t work as he skates himself into the corner and by the time those two catch-up it’s too late to generate anything. He’s on an island in transition.
