When is the last time we hired a coach who wasn’t a bargain bin special? When is the last time one of our former coaches went on to do anything notable with any other team?

I honestly think the Flames would be contenders with competent NHL coaching. Treliving really missed out on an opportunity to hire a top-tier coach. People keep on about how many coaches have come and gone and about how could it possibly be that coaching is the problem, but replacing one incompetent coach with another incompetent coach shouldn’t be expected to impact the outcome any more than replacing Lazaar with Rinaldo.

I think there's something to the rumours of ownership not wanting to invest in a top tier coach. This is hardly an issue we've had just with Treliving as the GM. Ownership must really not see the value
