Georgiev, Buchnevich and a 1st would be an absolutely haul.

You're only saying that because it's all positions that Calgary desperately needs upgrades in, and the NYR are plausibly willing to supply it. Pfffffft.

Johnny, Zibanajed and Panarin on the same power play sounds like no fun for the other team.

Add Lundkvist from NYR and Kylington from Calgary, then it looks great.

It is probably best to specify your Lundkvist because a lot of people will think you mean Lundqvist.
Or they might even think there's a Lundquist in the Rangers system.

Man, this is weird... I seem to have discovered a hole in the space time continuum. Everyone in this thread is posting as if they're trading Johnny a year ago.

I'm sure most GMs will look at the overall body of work. It's not like Johnny is in his 30s and is expected to continue to decline. He had an off year on a line that collectively had an off year, and at times he was the only player driving that line. Furthermore, he still has two full years left on his current contract. Some people are making proposals consistent with trading him at the TDL on the final year of his contract.

I feel the same way except a lot of offers are if they are trading Johnny at the deadline when he is a pending UFA

Only one of these i touch is the Devils one, and even then it's with a pinched nose.

The Devils deal is my favorite as well as I feel the 7th overall pick is the best asset in any of the proposed deals.
Severson steps into the top 4 and is a nice fit.

Exactly the way I see it. Fills a primary need (top 4 RHD) and lets us swing for the fences on a top 10 pick. The rest of the trades are lacking a real home run pick.
Philadelphia is a low first, Frost (who is good but no shot at being Johnny good) and Ghost is largely a cap dump right now.
Georgiev is alright and on the upswing, Buchenvich is one of those guys that we hear will be good every year, and a mid first. Still no hope of a player as good as johnny.
Merzlinkins is interesting because he's a very legit tender prospect (moreso than Georgiev IMO.) But i've never liked Boone Jenner (think he's best in bottom 6 role) and the pick is again mid round. As an aside, because of the wild variation in 13-70 of this draft i would say it's potentially one of the worst ever to have mid 1st round picks in. You might be able to get similar or better value players with two 2nds.

The only one that proposes quality for quality is NJD. Everything else is just quantity for quality.
Big no to everything but the NJD trade, but even then it should just be 7th + 18th, no Severson/Woods.

I have been going back to Buffalo recently and considering their want to cut costs I do wonder about their RFA’s.
To Buff: Gaudreau, Kylington, 50th overall
To CGY: Reinhart, Montour, 8th overall
Flames sign both players to 5 year deals. Adds 2 right shots to the organization and gets a high pick as well. Buffalo adds the elite winger making only $10M over the next 2 years in real cash.
Probably not enough going back to Buffalo

Change 50 to 19 and you might have something.

I was thinking that but then I am not overly stoked on downgrading from Gaudreau to Reinhart and paying much more for the older Montour than Kylington just to move up 11 spots.
If 19 is in play maybe Buffalo adds their 2nd in the deal as well?

Too much of a robbery for us. Even with our 1st going back I think it's a stretch, but I love it anyways.

Yeah and it depends on how much the Flames like the top 10 of the draft. At 8 you are at the shelf of what I consider to be the upper tier.
1. Laf
2. Byfield
3. Stutzle
4. Rossi
5. Raymond
6. Drysdale
Those guys are probably all gone: so you are choosing between Perfetti, Holtz, Lundell, Sanderson, Askarov types.
Hard to say if that's worth it.
