I'm not blaming anything on Ward...but maybe the Johnny/Monny combo really does need a hard ass coach to have them going. Johnny looks like he's happy to collect his check and go home right now.

I get the positivity and its appreciated, but if we're setting our bar at winning a series against a very average Dallas team, thats kind of sad for how the team is supposedly built to go deep. Thats why people are upset, because with even just an ounce of skill and tenacity from the top line when the other lines play as they are paid we should without a doubt take this game.

Our third and fourth lines won't win against VGK and COL, which is the standard that should be set.

The one continued play I do not understand is that Monahan consistently dumps the puck in for Gaudreau. If anything Gaudreau should be dumping it in for Monahan or Lindholm.

This team just gets way too comfortable.

Win Game 1? Lose Game 2 (and maybe even the rest).
Get a powerplay? Stop skating.
Tie the game? Immediately go back down.

There's way too much complacency. Far too little desperation. They get part of the way there but they can't do the work to finish it off. It's been like this for years.

So frustrating.

Thing is, Gaudreau is what he is the guy is not suddenly going to flip a switch and become a mini Lucic. So why give him so much ice time? That's bad, bad coaching but I know why it's happening. Same old same old the optics, gotta play your "best" players because reasons.

Have to pay the price to win Johnny is the exact opposite of that.

Presuming Chucky is out for tomorrow... I'd probably do this:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Reider - Backlund - Mangiapane
Lucic - Lindholm - Dube
Jankowski - Ryan - Czarnik

I like Benny with Dube & Looch, but the above is probably a better spread of some strength and speed on each line... Provided they divy up the minutes I guess.

Johnny Ringette, amirite?

Wouldn't break my heart to see 13 and 5 traded while some possible teams think that they still have value. Shake up the core, give the C to 19, hopefully get some decent players in return and go forward.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I am excited for tomorrows game where we bench JG, Monny, Lindholm and Gio, (Wait is Backlund still soft and benched too?) play without Matty (Who has actually been the worse of any of them AND is our highest paid player!)

Bring on those AHLers! That will teach our core!

Johnny needs to simplify the #### out of his game.

Playoff hockey is not dipsy doodle hockey. How did he score his last game changing playoff goal against the ducks? Straight to the net and let a shot go.

He's looking to make mona lisas when he just needs to make a straight line.

Mostly, I'm just disappointed in the Flames' mental game again. Dallas certainly deserves credit for the big push after the goal, but the Flames lost the game on their weak mental game after tying it up. They didn't maintain their resolve. Their will was too shaky.

Not good traits for the playoffs.

5 pts in 14 career games and a minus 4.

I actually thought their 5th goal was offside. Hunted for a vid but gave up quickly. Not going to change anything. Monny and Johnny need to be split up, line is too soft and no one goes into the corners. Loved SammyB on the top line as it felt like there was some spark. His penalty was bs. Looked a little bit like Jerome out there! I thought Backland looked ill. Slow feet not moving. Weak on the boards.

Also Dallas left their zone and entered ours with relative ease most of the night. Janko was decent but man did his skating look weak.

I hope Chucks is ok. I fear the worst.
I am Looking forward to the impending New lines thread!

Not bad for a pretty weak effort. Koch soon to be the fan fave!

Some brutal sequences to end that game. Bennett doesn't get the puck deep. Instead, he lobs it at the Dallas D leading to Stars pressure in the Flames' end. Dube can relieve that pressure but he also floats one to their D.. and to the wrong side of the ice. He can't change. His teammates either make a bad change or get caught on the ice. Gaudreau - who is actually fresh - doesn't even come close to doing the one job he has in this situation as he loses his man. The coverage is so bad that the Flames make a defensive defenceman look like he has the offensive instincts of Bobby Orr jumping into the attack.

Just a total, all-around cluster.

Ya I thought that might have been offside as well. But no one raised it.

You're surprisingly down on them tonight. Didn't figure you would wade off that deep end after that push back in the third.

Details in a two minute span where they briefly lost focus sunk them. They can learn from that. Team growth is not a linear process.

Chin up. Its just 1-1.

Flames need to keep hammering Klingberg and Heiskanen. Rinaldo might be a good add to the lineup. Goal is to hit those dmen as much as possible. Klingberg is especially vulnerable. Wear them down.

Would people be open to swapping Johnny and Chucky? Tkachuk-Monahan-Lindholm could be interesting.

Hope Chucky is okay but I’m not confident we’ll see him back any time soon.
