Rinse and repeat.

It's worked so well for this franchise let's continue it!

Those players he inherited are precisely the ones not showing up (Except Backlund).
Treliving has made good moves with players and some good value signings, but his coaching selections have been poor. The character of the team under his management has been weak.

Not a guarantee at all. They wouldn't be nearly as fired up without that first incident. A lot of guys were actively seeking vengeance today.

You cant see into alternate timelines so why make up fantasies just to pile on the team. Seems totally unnecessary.

I usually don’t complain about the refs but that was an embarrassment.

I suppose if you can't beat a team without 2 of their top6 forwards playing, they can hope that another gets hurt to get a chance.

Remember how the flames d was this massive advantage over the jets?? Jets d has made less mistakes than our powerhouse d over the first 2 games. Maybe we just need more jets injuries to make it close

The Flames played poorly, but what a ridiculously hyperbolic statement.

Here are all the Flames' series since the last time they were up 2-0 in one.

Loss to Tampa
Loss to Anaheim
Loss to Detroit
Loss to San Jose
Loss to Chicago
Win over Vancouver
Loss to Anaheim
Loss to Anaheim
Loss to Colorado

Not a great record. And it could get worse, especially if they lose again tomorrow. They can't seem to grab momentum when it really matters.

It wasn't solely responsible for the outcome but they did their jobs poorly, yes. Really bad stuff from the whistle blowers. Felt like they had it out for specific Flames players given the calls on those scrums.

Again, look at bad franchises and you will see one of the most common elements is constant change at the top.
Strong franchises have stability in key management positions.
Strong franchises spend the money required to have elite people in those positions. Crappy franchises pay bottom dollar and cycle through management hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.

The key isn't to keep management in place for a long time, it's to hire good management that deserves to be around a long time.

As soon as we heard the Flames didn't even inquire with Boudreau it was clear which route they were taking.

Pionk came in attempting to destroy Johnny's knee. He quickly realized that he missed so he did a spin kick to try and cut out Gaudreau's appendix with his skate. Fully intentional. He planned it after Saturday's game.

Their coach campaigned for it, and it worked. That's the beauty of playoffs, it's all about gaining whatever advantage any way you can - and it's the type of stuff the Flames just haven't done at any point since Darryl left the bench.

This team does not have a "win at all costs" mentality on the ice or off the ice. I always get left feeling like the team collectively plays while thinking "we can't go all out on this shift, we need to be ready for the next shift".

Yep teams often step up after losing a big player...in the short term anyway. Us against the world, simple game, hard work, nothing to lose ect.

This is not to excuse the Flames but it's not like it's the first time a team won a game missing players.

Hope he gets pionked from the next one (as in suspended). No room for that.

Contrary to popular belief the Jets have brought most of the dirt to these games.

Have you ever seen either of them play so poorly? I don't know if Giordano in particular made it through a single shift without a turnover.

Alright then, keep your debbie downer attitude. Are we expecting them to be lights out, every game, all playoffs? We barely lost playing terribly and hit two posts in the third. The officiating was terrible both ways. Jets pushed back well and played harder. We just need to do the same tomorrow.

You're forgetting Hartley. That guy played the media like a fiddle at times. Also had plenty of experience before leading the team to playoffs, also won a round.

It's almost like playoff experience is a good thing for a coach. Maybe we should try getting that.

We barely lost while playing like dog crap. Regroup, reset, clean up some areas (discipline!) and get ready for tomorrow.
Even if the Flames win this series, I just don't see that they have what it takes to be a champion.

The core lacks size and speed. They either have size but are slow (Tkachuk, Monahan) or have speed but are weak (Gaudreau and Mangiapane).

Lindholm and Backlund are probably the two most suited for the playoffs but both guys are more complimentary pieces and would be the 5th and 6th top forwards on real contenders.

I think the core forward group needs to add at least two guys who have that size/speed/skill combination.

Go after Hall in the Summer and flip Monahan and/or Gaudreau for a top 6 forward with size and speed.
