They're definitely reading, and closely lol, credit given at 8:25pm, 5 minutes after this post. Couldn't bother going back to find the OP though.

I think based on age and what he brings, Toffoli probably would have been re-signed almost immediately (assuming he wanted to sign).
In that sense, he wouldn't have been a rental.
I'm guessing in the next few days we'll hear that Tre was very interested in him, but couldn't get a good enough idea if he was willing to sign here, and so he wasn't willing to pay the price.

If the Flames do acquire a pending UFA, I think it'll be because Treliving strongly believes that he can re-sign the player.

I don't see him consciously acquiring a player who is likely to hit free agency.

Yep, 100% agree.

Honestly I don't care. I'm just some schmuck, doesn't do anything for me to get credit.

I appreciate your modesty; and I am glad that In The Dome had already given credit; IMO, Plagiarism is no better than the stuff the Huston Astros are currently being accused of.

Copying a post off of a random thread on an internet message board onto twitter is the same as cheating your way to a major sports championship and effectively accruing millions of dollars through fraud?

Ok?

Man how ####ing good has Lindholm been since acquired by the Flames. I know wrong thread or whatever but I recall drafting Monahan and thinking Jesus what a sweet pick, Barkov would have been great too.

This isn't a knock on Monahan at all, but Lindholm has been the most consistent, skilled forward since he got here. I've been focusing on his play more lately, and his brand of hockey makes me happy.

Anyways, seems like a tad overpayment to me for what you get in Toffoli.

Yeah I'm going to be forever eating crow for my Lindholm views when that trade was made... I did say there was always a chance he'd be a late bloomer, but I honestly thought he'd be a career 50ish point guy. Nooooope.

Rantanen out with an upper body injury, will be gone for weeks.

the Avs will be looking for help but with Toffoli gone, could Kovalchuk be the next domino to fall?

Man Kovalchuk to Colorado makes a ton of sense. I could easily see that happening.

Yeah I was part of what felt like a minority group in the other Toffoli thread when I said I didn't think he made the Flames better enough. He's alright but doesn't move the needle enough for that price. Very glad the Flames didn't get him!

Glass half empty, for sure, but this version of the team, this year, isn't going to get it done.
Better to do the work in the off-season and free agency
Mark Stone would easily propel this team to the next level.
