Nobody on the oil may want to go with Lucic. Fine. He shouldn’t give them a choice when it is 7-3 late in a game. See zadorov and Sherwood attacks by Lucic. Just go after Kassian, Nurse or P. Russell and destroy them. Suspension for two games? Who cares- that is why we got him.
Pretty ridiculous take. Gagner pokes at a loose puck just as the ref lost sight and blew it down. Pretty much at the same time.

I’m not even going to comment on the Lucic should take a suspension except to say cmon. It’s a game, and you won the season series.

Flames were terrible but

God are the Oilers ever whiners

Whine when they win and whine when they lose...I don't know how you win 8-3 and still sound so salty after the game.

Made me sick seeing Spector gloating about McDavid and Drysaitl and calling out Monahan and Gaudreau.

Why the f#@k is nobody calling for Johnny Gaudreaus head at this point?? Is he seriously just playing so bad that we are forced to trade him?? If so he's a piece of ####. What the hell has he done this year?? He's supposed to be our impact elite player. Right now he looks like 8 point on the season Sam Bennett....awful.

I've seen enough this core will never be able to win more than a round in the playoffs let alone a cup. Tear it down keep Tkachuk, Lindholm, Valamaki and Andersson. Everyone else kick rocks

Gaudreau and Monahan should be called out. They’ve been garbage this season - especially Gaudreau. Gaudreau’s been checked out for a full season at this point. Not sure what his deal is but it just doesn’t look like he enjoys the game any more.

Lucic is straight garbage. The fact that there were multiple fights and the guy was invisible means he needs to sit. Considering the NMC can’t we just scratch him? Rinaldo will at least do what he’s there for.

If Ward thinks that Lucic’s play is acceptable he should go to.

Hanifin goes from a potential top 3 pick in his draft year to a guy who is not even one of the 3 best dmen in his draft year in 5 short years. Pretty disappointing trajectory for the guy.

I would suggest Gagner knew exactly what he was doing with the late poke check. He then went after Giordano amidst the scrum, no coincidence there. That all said, I have absolutely no problems with his actions. He’s engaged, battled hard, was likely responding to the Giordano/McDavid incident regardless of its intent or perception from anyone’s view. These things happen when two teams are legitimately at odds with one another, settling scores, battling for position.

Outside of that incident, Calgary definitely didn’t have a great game, but much of that was because Edmonton simply outplayed them and was the better team with the harder effort. The two clubs were tied going into the game, so while I would have loved to get another Calgary win, dominant or otherwise, Edmonton is right there with them this year and are winning their equal share of games, and last night they just wanted it more.

Calgary needs to make some adjustments to their club, but it’s not exclusively on the back of last nights game. They’ve been playing mediocre to their expectations all season long. Last night did however showcase the areas of which there are problems.

Top performers having no impact (Gaudreau, Monahan), remedial defense (eg Hanafin committing to a knee then going full statue as McDavid steps around him), role players not playing their role (Lucic), coaches misreading the game and icing the wrong lineup (Dube > Rinaldo, especially when Lucic no shows), etc.

It was Edmonton’s turn last night, hopefully for our sake it’s a one and done, but nice to see some meaningful and emotional games.

This isn’t “1 game”.

A minus 17 goal differential and 15 regulation wins in 53 games played, the Colorado series, the fact that we are 11 points down on the same point last season despite getting 6 points from shootout wins this season tells us all, this is more than about “one game”.

This is who our team is.

They are actually -22.

The standings have them at -17, but they get a nominal plus for each shoot out win more than each shoot out loss. Their 6-1 shoot out record gives them an extra 5 nominal goal differentials.

I hope Johnny is dealt at the trade deadline in a blockbuster deal. At this point I'm pretty pessimistic that the Flames make the playoffs and if they do I would give them zero chance of winning in the first round. Treliving needs to figure out what to do with this team but it needs a major overhaul.

There are no easy games for the Flames. They just lost a few easy games in January to Montreal and Ottawa and they have lost to LA twice this season and once to San Jose.

We've been saddling Monahan with the corpse of gaudreau too long. Let's separate them and see how he does separately before sending him packing too.

We need to get what we can for Johnny. Hanifin too. I would be trying to trade both before end of season.

We can’t take Edmonton too seriously. They are a little full of themselves right now. Not much that we can do about that.

Our job is to poke fun and generally make a mockery of them. Don’t get angry. Laughing at them is still the way to go here.

Sure the Flames lost but that game was also entertaining as hell.

Relax buddy, it was a bad game. Players can have bad games or even seasons. Can't have knee jerk after a bad loss. This was the same team we beat earlier in the week.

Any time i think Johnny is about to break out , he lays an egg like he did last night. Hannifin amd Kylington were beyond horrid. Lucic needs a good talking to. I get that most of the Edmonton guys are his friends, but he needs to seperate that. There is a chance they could meet up in the 1st round. He needs to bring his physical element to those games.

At this point if the Flames play the Oilers in round 1 I would sit Lucic and play Rinaldo. Same skill set, more give a ####, and no personal baggage with Oiler tags.

What a terrible take. This is how Phaneuf-like deals happen.

Get what we can for these guys means we do the deal in the summer when many more teams are in a cap/asset position to make such big trades.

If a team wants to one for one a high end forward for Hanifin it could be done but a Johnny deal is so unlikely during this time.
