That was after the events of AOTC and there are about 3 years between AOTC and ROTS. That means she would have been around 16 or 17 when Luke & Leia are born, which is within the ballpark of "about 15".

Weird. I always took her to be in her 20s around when she left Anakin in Clone Wars. I thought she was close to becoming a Jedi Knight, and Obi Wan looked to be in his 20s when he became a Jedi Knight.
So after a 2nd viewing I can say I’ve moved from just liking the film to really enjoying it (not quite love). There’s just so much to unpack with it and it feels like it moves at such a breakneck speed, which is my biggest complaint with it, the slow moments don’t last long enough to catch your breath.
I’m looking forward to watching the ST together to see how it all flows..
I think a bunch of people suspected her of being a Palpatine, including on this forum, due to her fighting style and other things like that.
Lots of people suspected she was a Kenobi, Skywalker, Solo too, that's all just fan theory.
Whether Disney always has her planned as a Palpatine is the question, and I personally don't think so.
I kind of find it hard to believe though. Aren’t all of these mega-budget movies written somewhat by committee? To think that nobody had eyes on this or tried to steer it back in place before filming began is kind of bizarre. They fire directors all the time. If they thought this was going totally sideways, they could have replaced him and fixed the script. Delay the film if that’s what it took.
Part of the Disney formula right now is steering away from "written by a committee", or at least that's my understanding.
From what I've understood, the idea is to set boundaries but allow for quite a lot of freedom for individual voices inside those boundaries.
Plus they step in with force if they feel someone has strayed too far, or the product would be a dud.
It was fine. It felt like it crammed an awful lot into the movie, and I think many sequels suffer from trying this "more is better" approach. But I felt it was a mostly satisfying conclusion to the arcs for the new characters we met in The Force Awakens. I was never a fan of the Palpatine inclusion from the moment it was teased, and I wish they could have concluded this trilogy without dredging up The Emperor. That's my biggest quibble.
Was watching a bit of TLJ with my sister. Small but crucial detail. This movie would have been 100x better if Paige had lived and Rose had died. More relatable and heroic character in 90s of screen time than rose had in two movies.

Rose was a wasted character. I love "lower decks" characters in sci-fi. They people who make the ships go. It can be boring seeing the leaders all the time.
The woman who dies at the beginning of TLJ to complete the bombing of the dreadnaught.
She’s Rose’s sister.
Does it ever mention her name in the actual movie or is it just one of those things where you're supposed to know their name because every star wars character gets a name a giant backstory? I've decided I hate star wars just because of this. I hate Captain Crunches five page long musings on the universe with all these guys I've never heard of with ridiculous sounding names. I hate all the nerds who loved The Last Jedi despite its mediocrity and try hard subversive crap and who couldnt shut up about how good it was and how baffled they were that people hated it for two straight years after the movie came out. I hate all the misogynistic and racist dorks who hate The Last Jedi because they can't stand diversity. I hate all the toxic nerds who think they own Star Wars and get their panties in a knot when things dont go the way they imagined they should. I hate everything about Star Wars right now and I want it all to just go away forever or at least take a good five year hiatus. After I see the movie today that is.

Poe shouts her name a few times to drop the bombs and Rose mentions it as well.
Don't go into the movie today with too much hate it your heart for Star Wars. It's a fun movie and a great conclusion to the series. It's a lot more enjoyable to go into movies thinking you're going to have fun than trying to be critical of it the moment the Lucas Films logo shows up.

You should probably just avoid this thread and Star Wars in general. It would be healthier for you.

There is no safe space anywhere on the internet from Star Wars geekdom. This might be the best place because at least I know I won't be ambushed with a Last Jedi debate. I will see it coming.

Get over it, lad.

I recently had a "Do I hate Star Wars or are the new movies just bad?" thing myself. And I found that I really like The Mandalorian and Jedi: Fallen Order, so I'm thinking it's just the movies that are bad.
