I like #17. Milan Lucic doesn't give a damn about a suspension. A far cry from when Troy Brouwer pretty much said "eh, it's part of the game" after Gaudreau's hand was broken after 21 slashes in a game against the Minnesota Wild.

Quote:
@KdotAnderson
Some strong comments from #Flames forward Milan Lucic about the play/suspension: "I mean, it was pretty clear, (Kole Sherwood) spears, slashes the goalie & I was standing up for him. I'm more than willing to do that. I thought the referees got it right on the ice the first time."

"They even got a slashing penalty on the play. I think even Rittich said it was the second time he got slashed in three games and you have to step up for your teammates and I'm more than willing to do that. This suspension won't change that moving forward.

"You have to get in there and protect your players and protect your goalie. I know on the explanation videos, he kind of showed a number of things. they were all reactions to a dirty play to begin with.... (cont'd)"

...It's a school yard out there. You have to defend yourself or defend your teammates or else you kind of get walked all over. Like I said, you have to continue to do that moving forward... (cont'd)

I'm more than happy to defend Ritter on that play; more than happy to defend Czarnik in the 1st game of the year."

@TSNJFranklin asked if he would go a little lighter in the same scenario, moving forward. "I guess that might be the play moving forward, is going a little lighter. I know, from my standpoint, you go hard into a scrum like that because you expect guys to take care of themselves.""

I loved the Tim and Sid clip and they pretty much nailed my opinion head on. I'm extremely happy to see Treliving and Flames management stand behind Lucic 100% and that Lucic will continue to defend his team mates. Maybe the next Mole Sherwood will think twice next time.

Yup, it was a good take.

A punch in the face is now a two game suspension, so rats - go be a rat. There was NO call on that play until after Lucic punched him and the refs felt it warranted to cover their own asses.

Do your job, refs - and none of this happens.

He did what he was brought in to do so I have no complaints. He just has to hold off on face punches with his gloves on.

When Marchand punched Sedin in the face multiple times people loved it, Lucic does it to someone and people freak out.

I agree he should take his glove off next time!

I thought the play was handled in the game. Double minor for roughing. A two game suspension for roughing is a stretch. Every scrum guys are jabbing each other in the face with their gloves.

If you want to poke and slash at the goalie after he's covered the puck you should expect to get punched in the mouth.

Cant wait until these teams play again. I really hope Milan squares off with Sherwood in the center of the rink.
Running around all game slashing and hacking without any repercussion wont happen anymore.
Or shouldn't.
