There was no CP 30 years ago and it was still a cesspool. "Long time season ticket holders but not any more" to try and establish some sort of superiority and credibility before the rant start which basically included botching of player names, the call for bringing back an former player (Eddy Beer was common, and I remeber that and I would've been 10 when he was traded) and firing the coach.

It made a naïve kid like me cynical about the general public's intelligence as a whole, when grown up and thus supposedly smarter fans of the team I liked, think that it made sense or was even possible, that the Flames should fire Crisp right away and trade back for Bob Badger Johnson (yes, that's what this one guy called in and said about 5 games in a row).

Coach Peters' comments on Fantenberg (for those who are interested):

"I thought he was good. He was real steady. I thought he was good, aggressive, decisive with his reads, and only should get better as he plays in our system and gets comfortable with how we do things."

Even better - no callers. Bring on ex-players and ex-coaches to talk about the game.
I honestly figure most of them are just strugglers so incompetent they’re unable to use the internet to discuss hockey, so they wind up using the call in show instead. Which says a lot IMO. There are exceptions, but mostly is like Jerry Springer. Bring out Sylvia so we can hoot at her!

More fun when Pinder fills in and harshly shuts em down if they say something stupid.

Did anyone see Gio’s post game?

At 1:30 he talks about his celebration.

The Flames being 7 points up - SEVEN - with equal games played, after the Sharks were ahead of the Flames two weeks ago is a big statement by this team.

Was at the game. Scary moment with Mueller but as he was getting stretchered off he gave the crowd a thumbs up. Was great to see!

Yeah I saw that and was waiting for a penalty call for either the hold or cross check but I guess refs put their whistles away. Glad to see Backs take it and give it right back. Team is not laying down for anyone right now and its awesome!!

Best part of that move is that it starts the same as his short-side top corner wrister, which is also lethal.

That picture has kilometers and usually they talk miles, like you did. So flames travel 1/3 of miles in one month.

If we look this year miles that teams travel the Flames is top of the league with 52 743 miles. Usually the it has been around 48 000 miles travelled.

Teams in west travel more but play less backtoback games.

Here is link to couple past seasons and for this season i took this source from reddit.

Pfffft.
Except that's old new, they're both playing lights out. Smith looks like a new goaltender, and both guys are consistently the best goalie on the ice, even if it isn't always pretty, which is why they get the wins. What's lost on these writers is this isn't a team that will be relying heavily on their goalies to eke out wins. Their depth lines dominate shifts, while the first line - tops in the league in the first half - is starting to gain traction again. The team is a four line machine right now. Two games this week they allowed under 10 shots after two periods. They out-defended the stingy, Trotz-led Islanders twice. It's a blue moon when they give up 30 shots now it seems (giving up 3rd least SA/G in the league). Now that Smith has returned to NHL form, both are probably good bets to put up firmly average starter performances, and that's all the Flames need to be successful because the team in front of them takes care of ####ing business.

They're 10/11 points up on the defacto "western favorite" Preds and Jets today, probably putting them out of reach of both, with 5-6 weeks left in the season.

If people aren't giving them the credit they deserve as a top team and threat in the west, they need to look again.

Smith has been playing so well lately that he does t even have to be in the game to be in the highlights. Rittich with the win but Smith with save of the night!
