Powerplay, penalty kill, plus he's an AHL callup.

Oh god, I didn't realize Neal got so much time tonight. That is brutal considering how he played.

Smith wasn't good, but the Flames, despite having few shots against, gave up really good chances to the Flyers.

Peters in the PG presser saying he didn't know what was wrong with Smith. He got word that "Smith wasn't quite feeling right."
Is he broken?

Fun game. I don't even care about the weak goals and disappointing PP this game. If not for those things, the finish wouldn't have been half as exciting!

Yeah. Seeing Quine jive with Bennett and Tkachuk should have been all that needed to happen to pull Ryan down to the 4th line.
This is where advanced stats and trotting them out piss me off, Ryans magic stats are amazing, but on the ice he costs the team more than provides positive outcomes.
Dude needs some sheltering without having his line mates sheltered (Tkachuk/Bennett)

But Derek Ryan's been ass offensively for a large part of this year. He often kills many offensive plays, and turns pucks over quite badly many games he plays in.
This is irritating. Ryan should be 4th line guy +PK man. He sucks too much offensively to deserve anymore than that.

No word on severity of injury or what the injury is

Peters on why Smith didn’t play the third: “I just got word late (in the intermission) he wasn’t right.” Wouldn’t say if he was sick or injured.
|
This concerns me about Peters. Confirms the only reason Smith was pulled was because he didn't feel up to it. Clearly he gets a longer rope than Rittich. The same thing goes for Ryan. Nothing unusual for NHL coaches I guess for the veterans to get deference but it's still infuriating. We got away with a win despite Peters' indecisiveness and concern about Smith's frail confidence.

Peters is doing everything he can to get Neil going and he just needs to pot a couple of goals.
I think he can work harder out there but he isn’t hurting the team. Imagine if he gets going? This team is already good, imagine of Neil all of a sudden started to produce.
He needs to score, everyone knows that, the coach has to give him every chance he can without jeopardizing the game and so far, IMO he hasn’t wrecked our chances of winning.
It’ll happen, he is too good for it not too.

I turned the TV on, Flyers immediately got a breakaway and scored the 5th. Wisely turned it off after that so we could come back and win without my bad juju

Smith was always classy in all of his early losses. Doubt he is the type to have a temper tantrum during the game and not return to the bench.
