True.

If one wants to debate about the best drafted since Crosby, I think you include Price, Kane, McDavid and Matthews.

And Gaudreau, Monahan and Tkachuk

The Canucks were a bad team, but Boeser scored 10 goals and 29 points on the powerplay with Daniel and Henrik Sedin. He's a good player, and I get why he was slotted ahead of Tkachuk in the off-season, but I don't believe he is there now.

This is absurd. I like McKinnon but come on. 2nd best player from Nova Scotia sure.

He scored 18 points on the powerplay with Daniel and Henrik on the ice. 23 PP points total.

And, not to take away from their illustrious careers, in terms of "first-line" talent last year, they were scrubs. 50 points doesn't cut it. And really he played with Gagner about as much as those guys. Horvat is fine, Baertschi is a passenger, Vanek is Vanek. These were some pretty terrible linemates to prop him up to that ~40 goal pace.

You also look at the defense and compare it to a team like Giordano, Brodie, Hanifin and there's pretty much Edler for the Canucks and even he doesn't create many chances.

But yes, I think we all agree that Tkachuk has overtaken him at this point.

He's not getting Johnny's contract
Personally I think He will.

Overpaying for players does not do anything good for the team. Look at Edmonton.

I think Tkachuk gets 6x6.75 or something very close.

Keeps the number reasonable, and allows Tkachuk to be young enough to sign another lucurative deal when his deal is done, which is usually when contracts don’t work out good for teams anyways.
