It’s 1 game but my thoughts after 2...

Dillon Dube = NHL ready. He has made several great plays and I have noticed zero negative plays from him. He’s such a great skater. The question for me is do the Flames feel it would be better for him to play on the 4th line in Calgary or a ton of minutes in Stockton? If he starts in Stockton, he doesn’t have to stay there all season.

Andrew Mangiapane has also made some great plays (I’ve noticed his shot three times) and I haven’t noticed anything bad from him. But I think Dube is better.

Also, so impressed by Tyler Parson’s athleticism and highlight-reel save abilities. I think he has very high upside. The Flames need to patiently coach him to quiet his game down and play positionally sound because the sky seems to be the limit.

Valimaki has looked great, but has tried to do too much a few times. I think there’s lots of potential. I’d start him in Stockton so he can learn to simplify a bit, but I’d say he has been the Flames most impressive defenceman so far.

Kylington mishandled the puck in the defensive zone and caused a turnover once, but he has generally played a fairly simple game and looked like the great skater and playmaker he is billed to be. He made a “kick save” once on the PP to keep the puck in, obviously extremely athletic.

Yeah Kylington has looked great from my seats.

Kylington just isn't there yet... IMO, his defensive game hasn't been good enough in this prospect game (one breakaway because of him I think and couple of times outmuscled). Yes, he's mobile and pretty good with the puck, but his def awareness hasn't convinced me yet. Välimäki clearly the best defender.

Yeah, I did mention perhaps I'm more aware of it now.

I'm still not sold, but he's obviously young and malleable.

Goal Valimaki!

Excellent screen by Gawdin and smart shot selection by Valimaki. no chance for the poor Oiler goaler.

Really?

I think Gaudin has had a pretty strong game so far - even before that great screen on the Valimaki goal.

i'm impressed by him. Perhaps it's because i had zero expectations.
