So much better than last night. Quite a rollercoaster of emotion this past 24 hours.

Oh, come on. He was fine. I really like Kulak, but there was NOTHING wrong with the Flames defensive play tonight, Bartkowski included.
I am very happy with the response in an excellent game, but two things:
1) The Flames miss the net a lot.
2) The Flames looked MUCH tighter defensively tonight than in any game with Smith in goal. Does the team feel too confident with Smith in goal?

For sure! Jagr is a god in here, and I can tell you it is really SOMETHING for David to get his first win in NHL with 68 as his teammate! I think you really may be right with this call! He will frame the pic!

Great game tonight. Flames locked everything down really well. You can't stop everything, and having the other team pushing will of course force mistakes, but the Flames didn't make their own mistakes tonight. This is what I expect from the Flames D - scoring, transitioning and pretty darn good defence.
Rittich was really good in net tonight. Thought he might have a case of the butterflies early, but he was tested and looked like an experienced goalie out there. Even went to play the puck quite a bit. Impressive, especially for his first outing.
What I really liked was how Calgary seemed to have no issues handling MacKinnon's speed out there. Remember that for the next Oilers' game. They handled everything so well tonight, and this was not a crappy Colorado team either.
Hopefully this sets them on a roll. Great backup, Backlund with his 100th, the Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr line dominating along the boards, the 3M line looking much improved, and a 4th line that didn't do poorly. No need to mention the top line - they have been consistently great every night.
Don't think there was a bad player tonight. Bartkowski played limited minutes, but outside of one or two poor decisions, I thought he played well. Did a good job against MacKinnon when he was out against me him too. Kulak will probably draw back in next game, but from top to bottom, the defensive corps did a good job tonight.

So... Who would you start against the Leafs? Smith, or Rittich? Personally, I would ride Rittich until he loses. Smith could use more resting time.

I thought Michael Stone was our best defenseman in this road trip. He was solid in every game except the game against Detroit. Well, the whole team were actually terrible that game. Aside from his mistake last night vs Dallas, he was good defensively, blocking shots and even good offensively. Of course we all know the 1st line were amazing. Tonight everyone was very tight defensively not giving Colorado a lot of 2nd chances. Riitich was awesome and he looks like he's been playing in the NHL for long time. He was very confident and my favorite part was that forecheck. He missed but his pad was there to make the save. Very happy for him that he got his first win.

No. You start Smith, you know the number one goalie.

This is silly. Rittich plays because Smith cannot play them all, or even +70 games. He will get another start, but not until the schedule warrants it.

Well, that doesn't make Bartkowski the answer though, and Bartkowski did have that over the glass penalty that lead to a goal and a pretty terrible giveaway on his very next shift. I think the defense is better with Kulak 100% of the time. I obviously understand the idea of rotating in the 7th defenseman and sending a message to the group, but it would be more comfortable if we didn't have the leagues worst defenseman as our number 7.

Don't look now, but Sean Monahan is tied for 11th in League scoring ahead of both Mark Scheifele and Leon Draisaitl (Hahaha!), and is #4 among all centres.
Not bad for a marginal second-line centre who scores only garbage goals.

I got laughed at by Oiler fans this summer when I proclaimed that Draisaitl was a product of McDavid and that he was no better than Monahan.

Monahan is so intriguing.
He's not fast, mean, or huge. He's also not the greatest at passing.
But somehow he gets it done. I don't know.
He has been remarkably consistent this year. And he has always been great in front of the net.

I have long thought that Monahan's passing skills are badly under-rated. And his shot is deadly.
