So weird to get bounces. That had all the makings of a 0-0 first period followed by a letdown Detroit goal in the last minute. Feels good.

The first minute had me sweating a little bit, but I liked how we settled in and matched Detroit's speed.
Detroit has an amazing forecheck if tonight is any indication for how they typically play.

Very good first period. I find it very amusing that when Janko shows his kids highlights of his very first NHL goal, it will be him scoring with a pelvic thrust

Lots to like about that first period!
I still can't get over how cool the Jankowski story is, from the draft to his first NHL goal. And for it to be thanks to Jagr is just... well it writes itself. I really think Jankowski has it. Really excited that he got to have that moment.

It's nice to have a guy on the broadcast team that has played in the last two decades and still has plenty of on-ice connections to the game. Hrudy is great and don't mind Sutter but Sarich is a welcome addition.
