He was also hooked for a good 4 seconds while carrying the puck in the 1st period

A couple people on another board said Stajan lost a puck battle to no one (or perhaps himself) late in the 3rd period.

Is that true?

On the pp and it somehow went undetected.

To be fair the Flames got away with so much tonight. Gio and Stone alone could have had about 5 calls go against them in two shifts and Frolik in OT has an obvious hook go undetected.

Super happy that Gulutzan gave the refs an earful after Tkachuk got hit in the face with a crosscheck and no call. Sparked the team.

It'd be even more awesome to see him put them on blast in a post game interview and take the fine. The Flames have got to be frustrated when they are the only team who needs to "adapt."

The new faceoff rules are a total joke.

Pretty much. The puck came to him along the boards pretty gently, and he bobbled it a couple of times by himself before a Predator player just swooped in and took it from him. I love what Stajan has brought to the Flames over the years, but that play made me audibly groan.

That is probably the best game Bennett will ever play, and he scored 4 goals once. All over the puck tonight and his line absolutely dominated.

How much more difficult is it to write out the word correctly by replacing the "z" with an "e" and adding an "r"? Stuff like this is just lazy, and it reduces our vernacular to incomprehensible vulgarity.
*rant over*

The Flames looked very good through the second and third periods. I was still on my way home from work during period #1.

'What a heroic...err...a horrific play by Matty Stajan!'

In fairness to Stajan, the ice in Nashville was clearly garbage. Pucks were bobbling and bouncing around a lot.

However, the effect of the bad ice was much more noticeable with less skilled players. Bennett was flying all night and didn't seem too bothered by the ice while guys like Stajan and Brouwer looked like they belonged in the NCHL adult beginners hockey classes. They just couldn't seem to negotiate the puck once it got bouncing on them.

That was a good game, and a good win against a good team. Nashville plays a good brand of hockey these days IMO.

- Mike Smith
- Matthew Tkachuk
- Jankowski was a nice addition. I doubt he sees the AHL anymore.
- Bennett seemed more relaxed. I really think playing on the wing plays to his strengths better.
- Kulak seemed to do okay with his very limited minutes, which was nice.
- Brodie is fun, but I feel he has a tendency to try to do too much at times.

- I still love the 3M. Backlund-Frolik will give anyone a boost, but Tkachuk at times the best player on that line. I don't get why so many want to move Tkachuk to a different line. That combination just works, don't mess with a good thing!

- I liked Bennett-Jankowski-Lazar. Jankowski could have gone harder to the boards at times, but two fast puck hounds on the wings helps balance that out. I feel there's some real potential with that line.

- The old guys Versteeg-Stajan-Brouwer could really have used someone on that line with more speed, but I'm not sure who that could be. Maybe shuffle Ferland or Lazar there? These are the problems you run into when you don't have that many fast players on the team.

- Forwards need to do a better job helping the D out. They seem to be relying too much on our skilled D men. Lots of team have strong forecheckers these days, even the best defense gets in trouble without support, and that creates those "easy" goals.

- That said our D men are at times pretty sloppy.

- Great to see Ferland score. I've never been that in love with the guy like many on this board, but he's a useful player when he's on his game. Pretty goal too.

- I feel like this board is taking Gaudreau-Monahan for granted. They're just fun to watch.

- I like to watch Gulutzans system. I get why some would find it boring, but I enjoy the heck out of watching it when the team executes it somewhat properly. (Gulutzan could IMO do better with line matching though.)

Agree with ^^^^ re our defence. Hamonic in particular served up the puck in our own end several times late in the game. I was going crazy. Need to stop the giveaways.

Laughable. I don't enjoy complaining about anyone. The reason I decided to take a shot at you is because of your constant bs about the coach, and your disingenuous arguments. I'm not the only one who has noticed.

I thought Brouwer made a few nice plays. But maybe they were more on the forecheck than passing.

First off, Nashville and their fans are some of the best in the league. Super classy and super friendly. The game was a blast and after that dreadful start so glad they were able to pull it out in the end. Found a bunch of Flames fans after the game and went out for some drinks. Boomer and Warrener are right, Nashville is one of the best places to go for an away game!!

I didn't see the shootout, so would like to see he goal everyone is talking about as classic boring Monahan. Couldn't find it in highlights, presumably because it wasn't flashy.
