Just a random observation -- as noted already, the supply/demand (and therefore price) for regular season tickets is much different than for playoff tickets. So I don't think you can lump to the two together at all. Looking just at regular season tickets, I think they are priced to allow the average person to go to a game (i.e. they are more expensive than movie tickets but comparable to Hitmen, Stampeders, and even theatre tickets depending on the location).

What I find interesting is that Hitmen playoff tickets are actually discounted (in order to fill the building); Stampeders playoff tickets are usually on par with regular season (if anything, less people attend due to weather). So even if you can't afford a Flames playoff ticket, there are other options.

P.S. I agree that at face value the Flames have priced a lot of people out of the market for playoff tickets. But I also agree that they are a business that needs to be financially sustainable as well. Hopefully a few consecutive years of playoffs will bring prices down (until of course, the new arena is built).

First off hopefully that doesn't happen. hah!

Secondly, have the Flames ever lowered ticket prices from one year to the next? I doubt it. Prices have stayed the same but usually they bump them up every season by a couple %. Thats not changing anytime soon.

Price the tickets at the very threshold of affordability for 19,000 people, then lower the price on the last few hundred tickets that don't sell and still ensure a sell out. Good way to maximize revenue.
Ya, and if you look at game B those exact seats are blue color and at 525.00 a pop.

Also, there exists two types of PSLs. The old PSL is inherited from the days of maple leaf gardens and only requires you to buy leaf tickets. The new PSL requires you to buy both leafs and raptors tickets...obviously the leafs only PSL sells at a premium.

The value of a PSK seems to be roughly = (average scalp value of ticket - STH ticket price)/0.06
I have no idea why you quoted me. I know what a PSL is, how they work, and that there is a secondary market for them. I said you could still be a season ticket holder without one, except the wait list is extremely long. I'll add that it's probably a similar line to the Green Bay Packers.

Oilers were selling concourse tickets for $80 each and those that paid couldn't even see the ice live. NHL owners didn't get wealthy by not understanding the basic fundamentals of business in demand, supply, and price.

^^^ Does anyone have idea how many people bought them? Was it busy?

Seems like a pretty sure-fire way to clog up the concourse and create long lines.

Those tickets are now the red color(resale) and selling for 457.00. So it looks to me the Flames bought the tickets for nothing and then put them on for resale at a lower cost.

Edit- now they're 437.00 a ticket.
Now $372 (several row one balcony seats in the attack end in the $300's after starting at $525)

More than 200 bucks. A considerable savings.

Great, now they can teach us all how to fund an arena on their own.

Yeah, ended up being the first 200, first come first served. I don't know if those people had to get their super early or not.

People on the Oilers boards were all pissed about it, blaming these guests for the long bathroom lines and beers lines during intermissions. Like that extra percent was what caused lines. It shows that they haven't had a home playoff game in awhile I suppose

You can now get a lower bowl for 202.00. Not great but it's a little more reasonable. If I really wanted to go to the game I would pay that and not feel too ripped off. The resale reds are now cheaper than the blues. lol

Not really, service charges for resale tickets are also ridiculous

Ya, so 250 you're probably paying for those? Still a far cry from the 366.00 they were asking for 30 minutes ago.
