Alberta consistently produces a lot of great volleyball players. A lot start out playing indoor then transition to beach volleyball.

I don't mean it as a slam, just when you think of beach volleyball you don't think Calgary and Red Deer that's all.

Oh ya totally, not saying you said anything wrong. It does seem funny that our best beach team is from a place that isn't know for beaches. Just mentioning that Alberta has good volleyball programs.

Nope. A lot of them are excellent indoor players. It's a lot different from indoor, in my opinion you have to be a lot more athletic to play beach volleyball.

Canada loses the tiebreak 15-13, but a close entertaining match. And damn does that look like a fun sport to attend live.

Dammit!
Canada missing their passes a lot, and just being too tentative at the end, not wanting to make mistakes. Then the roll shot out of bounds you can just tell the pressure was getting to them. Too bad.

That was a ton of fun, but they fell apart right at the end. Too bad. Full marks for Latvia.

I think in most cases it's the most elite players on a court team who are successful at beach.

Interesting moment (I thought) before the last point there as the Latvian guys were towelling off -- an attendant gave one player a blue gatorade-looking drink and he unscrewed the lid, looked at it and said "it's been opened" and handed it back.

So;
1)As per Springs1, no tip forthcoming for the attendant
2)Smart by the Latvian as potentially having a second performance enhancing drug in the system (how else could they beat Canada?) would certainly set off the drug test.
3)Was the attendant Andre Jackson? http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_re...thread=4879069
