Hutton is ideal, low-cost with solid stats. Perfect backup for Elliott.

What makes you like Hutton more than Chad Johnson?

Including Campbell, Chicago now has a lot of d-man who are NHLers or close:

Keith
Seabrook
Hjalmarsson
van Reimsdyk
Roszival
Gustafsson
Rundblad
Pokka
Forsling
Svedberg
Kempny

But isn't it about time Tom Erixon was traded again? Bet they get him

If the Avs trade Barrie for anyone but Draisaitl I'll be quite upset. I don't want them to trade Barrie in the first place, but RNH is not remotely close to the answer. I mean, I'd take the guy as I think he could do well given a chance away from Edmonton, but not as a key piece of a trade.

I think it's fair to say Treliving has not proven himself at free agency yet. But looking at contracts like Raymond's and a lesser extent Engellands and calling them free agency blunders simply isn't correct.

One has to look at the context of those contracts too. Both signed for example, when the Flames were literally the least desirable location (or tied for such honour) in the league, because it was about to be year one of a rebuild that took too long to start, in a gutted team with no light on the horizon. Treliving clearly didn't want to subscribe to the Oilers model and went out to ensure the little young talent we had was surrounded by NHL players so that we could ease them in and create a culture. While having to overpay to convince players to come play for a precieved basement dweller for years to come, Tree was shrewd with contract length and should be credited for that.

The fact that this teams young talent has pushed the envelope much quicker than expected is a good thing and has created a good problem to having to manage around a few contracts we didn't think would matter when signed.

I'd like to see Kuemper get signed. I think he's a decent goalie.

Stats are fairly even, but Hutton made less money last season, so I'm simply assuming you could get him on a more affordable deal.

John Shannon @JSportsnet
Datsyuk is going to sign a 2 year/$7.6 mil deal in the KHL...But Arizona has yet to terminate contract. Has to happen before he can play.

Looks like Laraque is confirming Radulov to MTL.

Si vraiment Radulov a signé à Montreal, c'est une vrai disgrace, pour ceux qui n'aimait pas Subban, vous allez le détester encore plus

Translated from French by Bing Wrong translation?
So really Radulov signed in Montreal, this is a real disgrace, for those who did not like Subban, you will hate him even more

I agree. Johnson played way more games, but is likely looking for way more money. I really want Elliott to be a true starter, not interested in any more 1a/1b scenarios. Johnson seems like a solid 1B at this point, but likely wants to get paid as such.

Odland saying the flames want a scoring winger, backup goalie, and a d. Oh man maybe we shouldn't have let one of each of those get to UFA.
