My bad - it was State police who said it. Myabe it's a con - they leave and get busted at the grocery store (and their Cheetos get confiscated).

If that's the case (I'm not sure if it's a felony either) then absolutely charge them.

Their take though would just be "more gubberment tyranny."

Oregon Revised Statute 166.370 indicates it is a class C felony.

http://www.oregonlaws.org/ors/166.370

US Code, Title 18, Code 930 indicates it is a fine and 1-5 years in prison, depending on the severity of the incident (I would call this a pretty serious incident).

These guys could have really given the gubbment a chance to hit them where it hurts most. Brilliant!

There ya go, thanks for that. I'm sure they will be charged to the full extent of the law for this side show.

I wonder if they are sitting there, contemplating if their plan is turning out the way they wanted or if there are feelings of regret. Crushing regret.

As a rule, I don't typically condone mocking or shaming a group or an individual over the interwebs. In my opinion its lazy, somewhat childish and certainly immature. (note: the mocking/shaming of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club and their supporters would be a notable, and reasonable exception to this rule)

I will be honest however, I have had a blast this week reading and watching these noobs in Oregon carry out their devious plan. The #YallQaeda and #VanillaISIS hashtags have been comedy gold and I am going to be sad when these jamokes run out of snacks for good and are forced to pack up their guns and head back to whatever hell they came from to begin with. With that said, another good RS article today...

One of Bundy's crew (presumably) is dead

One person was killed as authorities arrested a group of people involved with the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the FBI and Oregon State Police said. The deceased was the subject of a federal probable cause arrest, officials said.
Wonder how the redneck "patriots" out there react to this one.

When you are in an armed stand-off with someone, leaving your fortified position is pretty much the dumbest thing you can do.

Probably. They certainly were flush with dildos...

The guy who died was the guy they interviewed on CNN a couple weeks ago who said he was taught not to point guns at people unless they are pointing them at you. Guess that childhood advice should have come with a disclaimer...don't point guns at people who have more guns pointed at you than you have at them.

Breaking news...there is now a front end loader parked across the road and a guy with chaps....leather chaps I believe...and a huge belt buckle. Sh't just got real.

Glad they didn't off all of them, let them rot in prison and not be legally allowed to own guns after they get out.

At the end of the day, I have no time or sympathy for members of the Occupy Groups, or the Freeman on the land type of groups.

You have to be somewhat concerned that this shooting has created a martyr in the group. There's enough mistrust of the cops now that a story that this guy had his hands up when he was shot is going to gain some instant credibility.

I honestly believe that if they would have left these protesters there to starve out and cut off cellphone service to that area that eventually the protesters would have probably left on their own accord accomplishing nothing.

Now they've probably filled the rest with resolve, and this becomes more dangerous.

Yep, no surprise basically all of them have a healthy obsession with wearing camouflage. This was probably their one chance to wear it with some actual legitimacy.

They also face up to 10 years for illegally seizing government property over $1000.

They have released videos urging more people to fight with them and if anyone tries to stop them on the way there to kill them.

I figured that would be an automatic, but the weapons issue is the one I was focusing on as the irony of them losing their precious guns because they were charged with a weapons related felony would be just sooooooo delicious! I used to be friends with a guy (ex-military) who was a real gun nut and he ended up getting loaded and committing a DV with a weapon. Lost his guns and right to have guns all in one bad moment of judgement. Drove him up the wall! I mean, this guy took a loaded weapon with him to take his morning dump. He just couldn't cope with the loss of his guns and needed to go into counseling.
